The mirrors as they are; are helpful in allowing you to see what's behind you when you're driving in a race.

However, the fact that the interiors are not rendered on them can become a bit of an eyesore for some people who love the little details and expect immersion.

I'd rather have the mirror mode selectable, to keep everyone happy:)

Your opinions on this?

If you render the interior in the mirrors as well, the game would need so much more processing. It's impossible. The question is, would you sacrifice anything else (graphically) for it?

I don't see why they shouldn't render the interior, the only thing holding them back is the extra amount of processing power needed to do so.

I think that they should have an option to turn off the mirror in bumper cam, I personally don't find it too useful.

Ive gotten very good at just using the look back, on straits and while going through corners. I don't use rear view, except on the NASCAR event, because they kept coming up and running into me on Daytona.

Seeing GT5 doesn't show us tiremarks and smoke in the mirror (probably for performance/framerate issues) I don't think we will see any interiours in the mirror soon.

In-game mirrors don't work that way. Poll or no poll, you will not get interior drawing mirrors in GT5 nor any other simulation at the moment.

Edit: Good that you always bring you own facepalm picture with you. :sly:

another thing: if you're real life car's rearview mirror is showing much interior, please position it approprietly (at least if you drive a well designed economy to mid-level car

I do approve it might help immersion but... when I drive, i'm not looking much at my cars interior, no mather how good or bad looking it is, we're supposed to watch the road. I find the cockpit view interesting, but sitting 8 foot from my TV, it's just to far to look like i'm in the car. Less distraction, more action, so I used bumper cam (or roof cam some times)

The only rear view mirrors I've noticed are the McLaren F1's and the Lexus IS350 SUPER GT's. The F1 has 2 mirrors, and the IS350's is I believe a camera showing a display in a central console area.

The only thing they need to do is offer a virtual mirror like the one in the bumper cam on all views. It's annoying having to use the "look back" button to see who's behind you when you're trying to race online. And not all interiors views have the mirrors visible so they're pointless anyway without being able to move your head, which is only available in arcade because it's a half-baked game.

I just wish the side mirrors on the Corvette were usable in cockpit view.

The d-pad view selection isn't really an answer for people like me, who use the G27.

Functionally of the mirror is more important than a missing corner of a headrest showing IMO.

I voted "I don't care", but only because I don't use the Cockpit view in any circumstances for driving. (I will use it on occasion for a change of pace when watching my B-Spec Bobs tool around the track.)

It would be cool if it rendered things to the highest level of accuracy, even if that means you'd catch part of the interior.

I would agree that the issue probably stems from the hardware's inability to manage that level of detail.

I totally get the want for odd (maybe even a little "quirky") little details like that. For me, it's not even so much a question of immersion, it's the whole "wow" factor involved seeing such level of detail out of a video game, given I started playing video games back in the day of the Atari 2600.

Ironically, one of those moments in GT5 for me centered around a rear-view mirror. I was driving my 2010 Camaro SS around Deep Forest, and I switched to the Cockpit view. I was floored when I looked and I actually saw the OnStar buttons on the mirror. (I actually still need to confirm if the buttons light up.)

Peace...

Look closer, the lines on the track are reflected in the glass on your instruments

I noticed it after driving over a curb and seeing the red and white reflection on the dashboard

The fact is, the cars themselves don't show up on any reflective surfaces (cars won't be reflected by the bodies on other cars) It's just a limitation of the game can't be helped, it doesn't really bother me at all. I'd rather have even less reflection if it got rid of the horrible jagged effects  Oh well, It's still a fun game :)
