What is your main thing in GT5?

There was no option for doing time trials at the Nordschleife, so I voted Driving Just for Pleasure. To me, that is what GT is all about 👍

I usually race on A-Spec mode as I am still trying to complete the game, although trying out various cars is fun. I occasionally race online. However, I am now starting B-Spec mode, realizing I need to finish up that, too :ouch:.

My favorite is online racing. That said I do B-Spec more often, not because I enjoy it, but because it's a means to an end.

Cash = Dream Car Championship over and over

Experience = Indy 500 endurance over and over

My goal is to have the ultimate favorites garage of 100 cars that will allow me to dominate no matter what combination of horsepower and weight is required.

Well I don't race online but I love A-spec, but you combined them so I picked "Other"

I voted other because I pretty much just race online now.

WRONG! :dunce:

The poll says: "Racing in A-Spec, Online or both." not "Racing in A-Spec & Online", they're not combined at all.

:banghead:

I spend my time waiting for updates. I put the game away about a week after it came out, and decided to wait 6 months before I play it again. To many problems with A-spec, hopefully it's fixed by May. I'm really excited about my GT5 second release.

lol. I like how you think. I rarely play now myself as well. I usually play f1 2010 or some other PS3 title. It will be interesting to see what all PD comes up with this Friday.

Voted 'other'. I enjoy hotlapping the most, currently.

Don't remember which review stated it, but it was along the lines of "Gt5 is at it's best when it's just you, your car and the track." I find that to be true.

Agreed. I recall a review made by IGN that stated GT5 was a "9/10 driving simulator in a 5/10 game." which is something I also agree with.

Voted for mostly A-Spec with Photo-mode a very close second... now in the process of building up a custom music list and will dip my toes into the track creator soonish... so still plenty to do after a solid couple of months of so of playing.

Mostly spend my time collecting cars and driving them in Practice at Nordschleife, both are the best things about GT5 in my opinion.

I mostly race. Sometimes, I'll look at the Special Events that I need to complete, but I mainly do A-Spec, online, and sometimes Seasonal Events.

For the last while i have just logged on to do the seasonal events, by which time i get bored and turn it off for a while again. eventually i plan to finish the FGT championship and some endurance events (only A-spec stuff i have left), i had golded all the special events and licences a long time ago so there is little motivation for me to play it outside of getting my weekly(ish) fix.

UPDATE: The Reason I Ran This Poll.

I ran this poll to show Polyphony Digital that for most people the main thing they like to do in GT5 is race! So why do they waste time on B-Spec & Gran Turismo Anywhere? Kazunori San talks about "insane levels of realism" but that's just regarding how cars look, style over substance indeed! I should've included a "Looking At How Good Cars Look" option in the poll just to be sure, hehe!

Seeing as most people like to race in GT5, the "insane levels of realism" should be focused on the racing & not some tiny little add on that is of no real interest to most. I would consider a championshiop points system, real time stewards AI, pace car/saftey car, proper flag system, formation laps, no silly auto drive in the pit lane & the ability to choose from a wide variety of motor sport rules to be an insane level of realism.

Imagine a chess sim that had no rules, or a football sim that had no rules but gave you points everytime you kicked someone (NFS Shift :)), would fans of those sports like it, I think not! Most so called racing games out there don't provide any realistic framework to race in, ie: the general rules of motor racing & as a result many important dynamics of real world motor racing are missing to the detriment of the overall experience. Obviously games like F1 2010 do, but they're simulating just one sport. Kazunori San said he was trying to implement NASCAR rules, but I've not seen it in GT5 yet, I thought at least we'd have a flag system as there were some telling icons on a screen shot ages ago.

None of it materialized & all we have is racing with no realistic motor sport rules & credits instead of chamionship points. Thanks goodness that creative people are working around this & running some actual motor sports events here on GT Planet, the thing is I think we shouldn't have to, GT should grow up as a series & start to focus attention on what the vast majority of users do with the software, namely race with it.

I personally love to collect cars - owning all of the 1037 would be great  In addition I like Photo Mode and re-doing A-spec events with different cars.

Voted going for 100% - which isn't quite right
I have been going through Seasonals, A-Spec & B-Spec, but constantly checking the dealerships for anything interesting (but am not so fond of Japanese or American cars, so don't buy so many cars). Hardly played with Photo Mode (time) & Course Creator (I'd like to create my own A-spec races, and be awarded credits & XP), not played online - so plenty of GT5 left to keep me interested (hopefully!)

I race in A-Spec, online, and collect cars. Would have chosen that if you had that option
