i know ive done races that are restricted to "normal cars only" before (maybe even an endurance), but i cant remember what the exact restriction is.

i tried to use the ZZII that i won (with no parts bought at all), but it wouldnt let me. i know i cant use the stock 787B i won, because its a race car.

so what cars, exactly, can i use. do they have to be stock from the manufacturer, or can the be "won" cars. i believe the only tunes u can buy are oil/car wash/ tires.

also, toss out a recommendation on a car to use. depending on the competition, i was thinking something fun like a svt cobra or rx7
 
u can't use the zz11 b/c it already comes with somethings bought for it. But u can use the rx-7 or Mustang. The best choice would be the toyota gt1 roadcar or speed 12
 
what kind of competition am i up against? what cars does the computer use?
 
meh...i might just buy another zonda. or maybe a jag, i didnt buy a jag yet.
 
i just checked my garage, to see if my speed 12 was still stock (yah it was). anyways, i thought i would give it an oil change/car wash before the PD cup. when i brought it into the car wash, it was a real deep, dull purple. when i washed it, i was surprised to see it was a bright reflex purple! whats up with TVRs and getting really dirty.

so, what can u buy and still have it be a Normal Car. only tires/oil/carwash? is that it?

*oh, just checked and I put 185 miles on the car (probably with no car wash).
 
u can only have a wash oilchange and tires, correct. I would suggest any tires. B/c w/ the speed 12 its an easy race so u can pit whenever u want. I probably would use mediums
 
yah, i already started with the speed 12 and the hardest tires. wish i would have read what u posted before. oh well, im used to running on hard tires. the speed 12 is amazing though. seems a little heavy, but its on rock hard tires.

this will be an easy race, but it will take forever. 20laps x 10 races = damn!

whats that trick for only having to do 5/10 races. i never understood what was posted
 
Okay, basically you win if you beat the other cars in points. After each race, 1st place gets 10 points, 2nd gets 6. In series races, you are allowed to quit a race (enter it, then press exit), and you still will be able to go on to the next race. When you do this, you recieve Ø points, while the next fastest car will recieve 6. If, during races, you make sure the car currently in 2nd place doesn't get 2nd place, you can get away with only winning 5 races. This requires giving the 2nd place car a good knocking though...
 
The only change you can make is tyres.

I used a Honda NSX Type S Zero on superhard slicks and won every race in the series quite comfortably - so that's about the standard. The superhard tyres convey quite an advantage.

Once I finish Project 'Get All Cars' (my first post 100% project), I plan to see what the weakest car I can win the series with is.

The Legacy B4 is probably too weak (bit heavy), so I'm casting around for something else with about that power but a bit lighter.
 
question about tires. when really hard tires are "green", do they give the same amount of grip as really soft tires that are "green"

Those are probably the only cars that will give you any sort of race. I saw someone win this in an MR-S due to pit strategy alone against an NSX. :D

im using the speed 12. i dont remember using it much, but it has 185 miles on it (where did those come from). its a pretty solid car.

anyone know the answer to my tires question?

i already own all the Rufs in the game. i enjoy many different cars and i like to spread the mileage around my garage.

Just wondering about the regulations regarding tuning. Is your car eligible if you have tuned it, but taken the mods off? I though someone once said that you can take parts off your car like a turbo. If you do that, do they become eligible again, or can't you ever mod a car if you want it to be eligible for this cup series?
 
Hell all I did for this race is buy a Viper GTS and throw super slicks on it. Won the race easier than ****.

If I remember correctly the car CAN NOT be tuned (ie. parts) in any way. Once you buy something for it, it automatically becomes uneligible for that race. I'm pretty sure about this. :)

That is esentially true. However, if you have done port/polish, weight reduction, or those mods that are irreversible you can't use the car. The Toyota GT-ONE road car, The JAG xj-220, are the cars I've used. The Toyota is best. The Jag is very tail happy. I imagine a Viper would also be good. I only have the racing viper in my garage though, and it is ineligible.

I used the Speed 12. Plenty fast and you can go 5 laps with Medium tires.

exactly. i am using the speed 12. did the first race with super slick tires, because thats how i beat the tought competition on 15 lap races. now that i see im up against a bunch of chumps ill be switching to mediums.

by the way, does anyone know the answer to the tire question i asked. do warmed up "green" hard tires give the same grip as "green" soft tires?
 
NO, this just show how much they have been worn. A green soft tire will have more grip but will change color faster. A green hard tire will have less grip but change slower.

Actually, vat_man answered your question in post #18 of this thread. It's on the first page. He gave an excellent comparison of the tires with both grip and lifespan charted. :rolleyes:

crap...i didnt even see that one, or the ones below it. :eek: i guess a bunch of replys came in a short time and i just skipped to the 2nd page. and that is a pretty good guide.
 
NP. Just wanted to point it out b/c it has pretty good information, even if it is just vat_man's estimates. I'm not sure where he got it.
 
I got it from a GT3 site I found while doing searches through Google - I'd seen the chart before. Can't remember where I found it - as I said if you do a search through Google for 'Gran Turismo 3 tyre life' or similar you should be able to turn it up.
