As I'm sure everyone can imagine Polyphony Digital are probably stretched resources wise. Money,Staffing, etc
I often wonder why there are no easy way to help companies, agencies that you actually care about given you have spare cash, time to do so. Think NASA for example.
Everybody wants new cars, tracks and features in Gran Turismo so I don't think helping them would be too out of the question.

What do you think?

I assume most people don't use "Micro Transactions" due to the value for money that they represent. I do think people would support something they enjoy if it was set up correctly, for example if PD showed what your money has been spent on.

While I applaud your dedication to the GT series you have to remember Polyphony Digital is a company, and therefore lives or dies by it's products.

If they produce a game that is better than the rest it will sell and they will prosper. If they do not, well they will not.
There is some debate as to whether they are going to keep up with the competition, but that's an argument for another thread.

I'm sure these features will be paid for DLC therefore if they are good and people want them PD will be making a profit. (I expect fans will buy most DLC's anyway - I know probably will)

If this is the case they could have done without the lavish release event!
Their continued support of the GT academy series would also seem to indicate that they are not short of a few yen.

If people are not finding value for money in the micro transactions, where they give PD money in return for what essentially amounts to nothing, I'm doubting that they will find value for their money in a system where they pay PD in return for literally nothing. PD operates on budgets of tens of millions of dollars. I don't understand why they need (basically) a Kickstarter to pay to make something they would be charging for anyway.

Even the hard working Japanese should be able to throw a party once every few years. o.o
I also think the GT Academy reflects well on them since it makes them more than just a video game developer.

If you want to give Polyphony extra money, you can just buy another copy of the game at retail. No need for an extra system.

If you want to give Polyphony your time, I suppose you could mess with the course generator until you'd made something to rival Polyphony's original tracks, then publicise your created track.

Google their address and mail them a cheque...sounds pretty easy to me.

Yeah of course they do. No problem with that. It also helps with publicity.

Yes agree completely. There's not many games where the developer helps you advance beyond the screen into real life. Although it's probably best avoided with 3D shooters!

^ They were just examples I used to show PD were not quite destitute yet.

If you have money to spare and want to donate just go to you nearest game store and buy all their copies of gt6 and keep doing that until you feel you have donated enough money to help them. Problem solved... And I don't think donations can really help because the game is already built and donations wouldn't really help a finished game. Also they have to build their game around a set budget and personal donations towards a multi million dollar game isn't going to add up to much so its just a throw away. Plus donations aren't a realistic form of a budget. A budget has to be a set amount and donations come in at random times so you can't count on them.

I have no sympathy for a company like PD. They already waste tons of money and time on GT Academy, PR events, movies, moon rovers, GT6 launch event, and Kaz flying around the globe like a diva. They are welcome to do all of the above once they learn how to release a finished game to their paying customers.

They spent atleast 60 million in Shuhei Yoshida Fun money on GT5. I doubt they need anymore funding.

I would love to see the PR nightmare that would ensue if a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company started asking for donations.
