Well, we've had evidence that at least someone with influence visits this, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's more than one of them.

Anyway. I know this topic has been touched, but to me it's a pretty serious issue. We need a freerun mode, where we can change all settings to better practice for an event. Sometimes even just to drive. It's annoying that you cannot use the QTS or even change tiresettings.

I agree that the settings should be locked in time trials, but we're going to need a freerun mode to do for us what time trials used to provide. :)

Have you noticed the little "figure 8" in online races? That is not for TT. You can tune your car (when QTS is available) and then test it.

I agree, we need this, about 90% of my time playing GT (or any other car game) is spent just driving around tracks without any other cars.

Well, why would you want to tune your car for Suzuka if you are ready to go into a race at Daytona?

Don't use it then.

No matter what you say it's a design error, you can't possibly defend having to choose an online event that suits your needs just to fiddle around with your car. And it takes sooo little time to make a freerun mode - it's time trials with QTS unlocked, cmon!

I don't think it could be done in gt5 but maybe gt6 :) Think about how in gt4 you had scenery for taking pictures as well as photoruns for track shots. How about combining the two and make a small city of some sort, preferably scenic like a small italian city on the coast where you only drive around to take pictures but there would be some perhaps mountain roads with other cars on it so that you can "street tune" your car. Just a little thought, definitely would need some refining but something alone those lines would be awesome. The thought of driving a car around as scenic city would really be the cherry on top.

You misunderstood what I said :) All I want is what time trials used to be. Really just a mode where you can choose your track, car and all the settings for the car.

What you can do is start a race, put the AI skill on 1 and put numbers of laps on infinite.

Yes that is a solution, but you must agree it's a design error that you have to almost "exploit" another mode to get what you want. And it's so easy. Seriously, it would not take more than 30 minutes to make this for even a lazy programmer.

agreed. I've been poed that they put restrictions on the modes. Like drift trials, were you can only drive a certain part of the track and then the lap is finished. And you can't even practice in time trials cuz you can't change your tire setting. Its really stupid and who ever thought of this needs to be shot.

Yeah, ok bucky. Like I said.....DON'T USE IT THEN.

You got an answer to your question and now you are simply looking for an argument because you feel a need to "crab" about something. Even if a simple bucket of water quenched your fire unexpectedly.

No, Time Trials are NOT practice. Those are world records.

Didn't misunderstand, but rather expanded on your idea. A mode where you can take in scenery, take nice photos, and tune your car all in one. Maybe stop off at a little parking lot to try some figure 8 drifting. The mountain roads would be for tuning your suspension and a nice long straight somewhere to test your gearing. All while having a sexy background.

Relax. I know what time trials are for, and I'm not critisizing them, I'm just saying they should have put in a free run mode too. Also note how my post was never a question.

I'm not looking for an argument either. But how on earth can you defend making something more complicated than it had to be, especially when it's such a simple fix.

It's a great game, but this is bad design.

Also it would make more sense if the practice run before an online event was a qualification run (does it actually work this way?).

And yes, you can find an event that has the right physics and track and use the practice run there, but still this wasn't what it was meant for, and when the other solution would have been so easy - I mean, we've probably spent more time discussing this than making the mode would have consumed.

Yeah, okay I get it :)

When I hear "free run" I think of need for speed just cruising around the city. It wouldn't take much more time then it would to make just some other racing track. Maybe have some of the cheaper slower cars acting as everyday people driving the road. Would certainly add a nice touch to the game. I don't expect it to happen though. Not necessary I guess.

I don't think they will do this either. What I would rather have them do is add some twisty roads as a rally track. You know with tarmac. Preferably a section from the alps or something. It could be a long road, where different versions of the track (like the Fuji F/GT) could be different sections of the track or something. I like the Eiger track for it's twisty mountainroad feel, but it's a bit short.

Hmm... can we agree that "time trials" and "free Run" is essentially the same racing mechanic... the player is alone on a track, doing laps? keeping this in mind, using time trial or free run is essentially doing the same thing.

I think the author has a very valid point. But you have to remember this is not a complete game, so with its many shortcomings, its to be expected that it will not please everyone 100%. I know when I get it I will be annoyed here and there, but I understand why PD has done some of the things they have done with Prologue.

To add to your point, I always, after buying a car modding and tuning it, go drive it on a certain track. The track depends on what the car is tuned for be it speed or handling. After running dozens of laps I check the times versus my other cars of the same class at the track, as well as my other friends time in that class and that track, and also check them compared to the top times as well. I'm sure that PD knows this is important and will implement this without issue in the full GT5, they would be crazy not to!:)

I tend to agree here, this is something that seems to be overlooked. Part of the original allure of the GT games has always been that you can be a gearhead and fiddle with the tuning and parts of your car, and then see what happens.

However, I'm not sure I like the idea of this becoming a suggestions forum, regardless of whether or not PD visits the boards. If you (or others) feel the need for a suggestion forum, as opposed to the usual suggestion post, for any particular GT game or future game, then by all means make the case for it in Site Feedback.

Think about it. Why do most people browse forums? I typically browse forums to get away from work for a bit, and I imagine a lot of other people do the same. I would hate for any employee of PD to have their free time spent here to become another part of work, barring the possibility of actually being hired for the purpose.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes I know this shouldn't turn into a suggestions forum just because one guy said he's a frequent visitor, I agree completely.

I think people at PD are all interested in making a better game though, and I think they all love their jobs. I know I would :dopey:

I want the tracks to be painted pink and snowing little hello kitty heads.

PD plzzzzzzzzzzzz listen.

Fair enough. (: I hope I wasn't harsh with my opinion.
