I just cant understand why they have put in all the Logitech steering wheels... apart from the best ones! The G25, and G27. It's nuts! Why leave them out?

Use the DFP option for the wheel- you can map the button and everything else. Just like it was in GT5P. I believe you don't even have to press the triangle anymore for clutch to work. Just press the clutch the start of the race.

Check the thread for new G25/G27 users there's a lot of info there.

The G25 is fully supported via the Driving Force Pro config. There are plenty of references to how the functions are mapped, if you can't find them on here try google.

@mykem
Cheers, I'll check that out.
@Brun
Yeah, I know the steering wheel works, and the buttons can be mapped, but still... why not make it easy for us instead of making us read forums to see which buttons map to buttons on other steering wheels. They are the best 2 steering wheels. Why not put them in?

What I want is the G27 supported... the G25 is fully supported, the G27 has L3 and R3 buttons that don't work and you CANT assign the RA function at all.

I believe its been said before that the G25/G27 aren't officially supported because they contain certain advantages that can't be controlled and Logitech didn't want to change to meet those specs.

At least this is what I read.

what the hell is wrong with the G25? first day i got my game plugged in my G25 fired up GT5, game works, wheel works. no issues, FFB is fine, all buttons work (just had to figure out what each one did)

no problems here.

apart from no feedback for tyre grip feeling, as in you can't feel the tyres loosing traction when cornering like in every other racing game/sim on the planet, the G25 is supported but not fully imo.

Can't feel it in my DFP.

Can't feel it in my DFP.

You can't with any wheel. In other games like Forza 3, the secondary force feedback motor (some kind of rumble) delivers a feedback of the grip. In GT5 you just have the ordinary force feedback. You can notice this especially in KART events.

GT5P had a way better FFB feel.

GT5 supports it in the Fanatec wheels. You can feel everything from the rumble strips too the engine revving.

Yeah but it's done better in the other game. i know what he means. Last night I did a A and B comparison. But I just got a tip on these boards why I might be missing some "feel" so I'm going to try that before I pass final judgement.

you can feel that with the DFP in GT5, but that isn't whats missing, its the "suddenly gets easier to turn the wheel when the tyres run out of grip during a corner" that isn't there. It happens as it should in gtr, live4speed, rfactor etc so it isn't a issue with the wheel.

actually a pretty important bit of information, as with practice you can get the car "on the edge" of what the tyres can do, at the moment you cant so easy as you have to do it all visually, which isn't very intuitive.

Oh that sucks you dont get that. I would imagine that would kinda defeat the purpose of having the FFB.

^exactly, it's taking away alot of the simulation/immersion "other" games provide via just force feed back.

Hopefully its just a patch away from being there, after all the tyres don't have infinite grip, the game engine knows when it happens and the car acts as it should - its just not being conveyed by the wheel...

Its probably something you wouldn't miss if you were new to wheels and had come from a pad, but when your used to it being there its a bit odd.

Clutch pedal on G25 doesn't work as it should. It only works in a digital way which makes it kinda useless :indiff:

I still hope for full support of the G25/G27

GT5P had a way better FFB feel.

I dont think so. In GT5 its more realistic. Race cars and Karts feel like they have no powersteering. Street cars in game feel like they have power steering. Its more realistic than the same strength for all cars in GT5P.

I leave my FFB set to 5/10 and I use a G27

Also PD would support the G27 before it only supported the G25 if they were going to go with just one wheel of the two. The newer "still in production" one would be the better of the 2.

I just bought the Driving Force GT and it's awesome, but I have to ask: what are the differences between the Driving Force GT and the G25? I know there is a huge price jump, but what else?

The clutch is too bloody sensitive.

Seriously, it needs to be the WHOLE way in without me even touching anything else or it will mis shift.

Half the time I'm trying to get back into gear. 1st to 2nd sucks balls. Half the fast cars can't be driven in manual due to the clutch being a little bitch.

At least this is what I read.

Personally I think this is rubbish, the real reason is probably that Logitech didn't want to put Sony's GT logo and pay royalties on the G25/27.
That is also probably the reason why PD turned to Thrustmaster for a new officially supported high-end wheel.

I read the other day that the G25 has a progressive clutch and in this thread I read that it is on/off.

Which one is correct?

I understand that GT5's new gear grind feature means that you cannot shift unless the clutch is completely depressed (Real Driving Simulator?) but this has nothing to do with a clutch being progressive, does GT5 allow progressive engagement of the clutch?

Can you slip the clutch on take off and around corners for greater control?

If so does this only apply to the G25 or do other wheel/pedal setups have the same clutch?

If some are progressive and some are on/off, which wheels have have a progressive clutch?

G27 has the same pedals as G25 and in case you didn't know the Fanatec wheels so called "Ps3 mode" is actually "G25 mode". In fact while the Fanatec wheel is in "ps3 mode" you can connect it to a PC and used Logitech profiler as it will see it as a G25. All of them has analog clutch.
Gt5 has progressive clutch but it's so small it acts more like on/off switch. Thus it's a software problem.

I realise they all have analog clutch. I was asking about in GT5 specifically. From what you said it seems that the G25 has such a small effective range of travel in GT5 that people are reporting it as on/off which explains the confusion. I'm guessing that the other wheels with a clutch pedal most likely have the same issue as they are all being identified as a DFGT.

Is this the same story with the G27? The G27 was not supported as much as the G25 in Prologue.

We also need to be able to change the 900 degrees in option aswell

You don't even need the full 900 degrees of steering...100 degrees from side to side (i.e. - combined total of 200+ degrees of lock) will give you plenty of wheel angle; any more and the tires will just be understeering with plumes of smoke coming out of it.

Anyway is there an answer for how you can map the basic buttons of the G27 on GT5?

I'm pretty sure you can't use the bottom 2 on each side of the steering wheel but everything else (paddles, shifter unit buttons, etc.) are functional...only issue left is how these can be mapped!

Apparently the buttons can be mapped in the DFGT and Driving Force Pro menu's.

The G25 and G27 are PC wheels that just happen to function with GT because the PS3 and PC use the same wheel protocols. They're not officially supported as they don't officially work.
