anyone else collect trophies? there is normally one trophy in a game if you go for platinum which takes some grinding but this is rediculous! gold standard takes 100 hours, then b spec to level 40 takes 100 hours, air of experience (whats the point), collect 1000 rubbish standard cars takes 100 hours. complete the endurance league??? i'm really annoyed i have all trophies except the air of experience and "excellent driver", my ps3 had died with the yellow light of death- playing the game has killed it. repaired and working again now but does anyone else think this has gone too far? minimum experience payout too to make sure you cna't stand the game in the end. i can't get gt6 i'm not going thorough this again blah blah blah rant rant thanks guys

you know what?

Its not an obligation to do it. If you fried your PS3 it was your call, nobody point a gun at you.

IMO getting a platinum trophy should be hard and not able to achieve overnight. You should direct your focus more to enjoying what GT5 has to offer then aim to beat the game as fast as you can just to get the famed "Platinum Trophy".

just having a rant guys, wondered if anyone agreed. platinum should be hard, the gold standard trophy is probably the hardest trophy in existence i've ever achieved so i am entitled to have a winge about the rediculous amount of time consuming trophies. trophyOCD made me burn my ps3 out lol

I dont need trophies to have a sense of accomplishment.

What's a "piss mick"?

Famine
What's a "piss mick"?

I think thats british slang,kinda like how they mess up by calling a trunk a "boot" or a hood a "bonnent". 2 of many words that arent right

I am British. Now, in the field of getting things wrong in language, let's have a chat about the IUPAC name for element 13...

In my opinion, people who try to get all trophies in any game in a short amount of time as possible can't really enjoy (or have time to enjoy) any of the games they are playing. I know I for one prefer the enjoyment out of games. I know there are people like yourself who like to gain all the achievements in games as fast as humanly possible, but a game like GT5 is built to last a long time, this being the reason it takes so long for the next game in the franchise to be released.

Take you're time it's PD, there's no rush :sly:

I'm British and I don't know what the hell it means.

And f'n lol at 'we' messing up :lol:
It's not like America invented the English language is it?

The way the English language has, and continues to be broken (dumbed?) down and oversimplified across the pond would be hilarious if wasn't so tragic.

I'm not having a go btw, the way our own youth are butchering their native tongue is even worse :(

Before I go, say it with me: 'AluminIum' :lol:

Bonnet=hood
Boot=trunk
Hovering=vacuuming
Crisps=chips
And what is bangers and mash?
Dont get me wrong i got love for the UK,but man i dont know sometimes. Thanks for top gear,db's,the inbetweeners and kristen price ha

Haha yeah we def dumbed down aluminum ill give ya that,and whats up with the hats?

Bangers and mash = Sausage and mashed potato.
So called because back in the day, sausages had a tendency to burst while cooking. What voodoo has been applied to stop it happpening now is beyond the realm of my current knowledge.

What hats?

Oh, those hats... You'd have to find an upper crust tosspot to explain those mate.

I refuse to explain 'tosspot' btw ;)

IMO trophys serve but two purposes...They make a fine spitoon and as a recepticle for dropping the daily deuce in!...:sly:

Yeah, trophies... Meh.

It's a personal thing I guess, and although it's ultimately the same thing, I much prefer the achievement system on Xbox.
Don't know why, but PS trophies feel utterly meaningless to me :confused:

Its always satisfying to here the ding and relieze you got a trophy. But at the end of the day my ps3 still overheats and i dont get anything from these dumb trophys

This ^^ 👍
I can't understand people 'playing' the game just to get the trophies. Just enjoy the game for what it is.

If my memory serves correctly the US population is greatly populated
by British/European descendants primarily using the English language.
The language you speak isn't called 'American' is it? :sly:

Trunk-boot
Hood-bonnet

Ok so there are some differences but can you please explain this...

Fannypack.

I think it's something to do with the gamerscore thing on xbox. Still meaningless, yet more satisfiying somehow.. I dunno.

are you insane? calling a boot a trunk and a bonnet a hood is Americas lame attempt at taking it as their own language, english is the native language of the English and we will call whatever we like, whatever we like. just as they do with British technolog...derp detp

Ok that part of the thread is over,have a sense of humor,it was all tongue in cheek

Hilarious when 'translated' to actual English, but lets not forget that they were called 'bumbags' over here ;)

p*** was my way of not swearing so i put mick instead at the end. was suppsed to be funny but didn't realise you guys would be unfamiliar with the phrase. i've had more fun than you guys out the game, i've played it to death - how else would i be one trophy away from platinum in the first place? in answer to my question i get the feeling that the answer is no NOBODY thinks the trophies have gone too far but then also i've noticed nobody who's replied is a trophy collector so not really getting a valid oppinion yet. maybe i'm on a gt5 worship site. i'll raise my question on ps3trophies.org and see what kind of replies i get there

If you play GT5 just for trophies...I'd suggest moving to another game mate.
The Air of Experience is a stupid trophy and serves no purpose what-so-ever.
I finished B-spec (Gold Standard) with only 207 races driven, 207 for completing B-spec and TAoE trophy needs 500? What the hell?
After almost one week of playing Tsukuba Sunday Cup 50 times a day I finally got it and on 18th August I got GT5 Platinum (got the game on 4th February).

As soon as I got that trophy - I proceeded with deleting all of my B-spec drivers.
To hell with B-spec, what a stupid mode.

I just achieved platinum today and I see no problem with the trophies in the game. They are challenging but achievable and that's how I think they should be. But if you won't get GT6 because of the trophies then I don't think you really are a GT fan or bought GT5 for the right reasons.

Edit: and you said no one replying is a trophy collector. I have 11 platinums and over 1000 trophies. I only go for it on games I enjoy. No game has been more enjoyable than GT5, well except air of experience of course.
