Why oh why would you blokes want to pretend you're from another country?!

Its not to pretend your from another country, its to have access to other countries PSN stores.

The UK one is crap, but the US and JPN PSN stores are MUCH better!

I personally have multiple PSN accounts so I can download some of the different things, I used my JP PSN account to download the GT5P demo that went out last year, so it can be useful from time to time.

The flag country is not automatic. I have GB US HK JPN accounts and have GT5p data on all so on the odd time I can play whilst downloading something from the stores which offer different things. I can go online with my euro ps3 and PAL copy in England through my HK PSN account and it shows the Hong Kong flag. I even got singed out less using my JPN ID while playing the JPN GT5P.

Also for example if somebody from Italy was working/living in England, I wouldn't have a problem if they choose an Italian address to show they're Italian.
