Hey guys, hope this is the right place to ask this. Does anyone recognise which Porsche 911 this is:

I can see it's a targa top 911 of some sort, but specifically which one? Also as a bonus, anyone recognise what footage the still comes from originally? The source of this image is the end of a Foo Fighters video. Just interested to work out where the stock footage comes from.

Thanks

Looks like a mid-'80s 911 SC. And the location looks like Southern California.

A red one? ;)

Thanks captain obvious. :)

Yeah I assumed mid-late eighties, thanks.

The shot before is an E-type...

Yeah I know, they purposely used some stock footage that was obviously different I think. They did another video recently of a white Limousine crashing over a cliff and used the same stock footage.

Its not the same as the one posted above. The OP has posted a car with a rounder roof. I don't think its a targa. It clearly has quarter windows.

I'm guessing 930 turbo?

Could someone tell me what Foo Fighters video it is because the link doesn't work for me as I'm in Canada... maybe with my own little research I can place a better guess...

that roof is making me obsessed though, it looks like it's not the body's colour... I don't think it's the 930 Turbo either...

It looks to have the older style rear bumper without the huge black rubber impact absorbers. Its probably not a real turbo but it does have the flared fenders. Possibly an SC but its no targa.

It's "Long Road to Ruin"

IMO, it's impossible to tell exactly what version it is from that picture... it looks like a wide body to me, so could be a Turbo or it could be a SSE.

Black roof or not, that doesn't look like a targa to me. As Time_Attack mentioned, it pretty clearly follows the "classic 911 profile" a lot closer than the Targa versions do.

Yeah that does not look like a targa, the roof has too much continous slope for it to be a targa, And it it wide-ish but the rear doesn't really look like a 930 to me. I would say SC. Also weird that it has a painted whale tail

After doing some research, what makes the most sense is that isn't a real Porsche at all.

It's a replica/copy Porsche 911, which was created so that it could be crashed (as it does in the music video).

After doing some more research I've come to the conclusion that no 911 body matches the one seen in the video. (It is most definitely at least a 911) What especially tipped me off is the roof, and the trim off the roof that appears off of the rear windshield. The side mirrors also look to be black or have black trim.

Apparently, the 911 is supposed to fake the Jaguar crashing in the video (stunt double if you will...)... I guess nobody wanted to destroy a real Jag so they destroy some 911 copy.

The verdict:
It looks to be a 1990ish 911 copy.

According to wikipedia te car is a 1990 model but that wing definitely looks pre-964
