Dont have time and you should talk man your family is loaded so dont give me that 'Get a Job' parental crap.

Really, mine give me nothing. (All be it free living) but it only takes me a couple weeks to get 100. All I do is mow occasional driveways and clean houses in my spare time...

It would take me 10 weeks to get to 100 becuz i get 10 bucks for lunch, wait a minute my grass is starting to grow back and thats 20 bucks for an hour of work!!!

Wait a minute...your folks pay you to cut the grass? When I was living at home, I was expected to do it for free!

The one time I asked for money for doing it, the old man was not pleased...

Seriously it's not too hard to come up with $100 these days (legally, too!)

All depends on how badly you want your TV. I bought a POS black and white TV for $60 with paper route money when I was 12 or 13.

And ZC why would you want to play PS2 on such a small TV? I have a 27" TV and I think that's small :p

I think he wants a portable tv so he can always play ps2 on vacations and stuff. in that case, there is a 5" portable screen made for ps2. It's an LCD screen, and will set you back about $140 or so, but it's made for the ps2, and LCD is the best.

ZC, have you asked your parents to buy it for you yet? Couldn't hurt to ask...

I want the portable tv with the audio and video for my sharkport, the tv that is in my dad's room is against a wall so i cannot get to the audio and video ports, so that is why i want a small tv with audio and video ports. Josh i havent asked my dad becuz he hasnt been home in 5 days and Tazz congrats u wanna cookie?

Man, that comment pisses me off. Why do people always expect electronics to be cheap? What moron marketing firm decided to implant that kind of impression in people's minds? "Comptures are cheaper than human labor and do the work faster!" - WRONG! Computers are EXPENSIVE, and you won't see profit results for over a year.

Televisions are no different. This stuff isn't cheap, it's electronics. Cutting edge technology is never going to be cheap. I was surprised he found one that cheap ... but after all, it is black and white.

And another thing, if you're planning to use this for vacations and in the car, how exactly are you going to power your PS2 ... and the TV? If you get that little white LCD that is designed around the PSOne, it comes with a cigarette adaptor, but I don't think it can power a PS2. What about skip protection for the DVD drive?

Ok, so maybe you just want it for hotel rooms and your aunt & uncle's houses, that's cool. But why do you need a television? Hotel rooms have TVs, and I don't think I'd be stepping out on a limb to say your Uncle has a TV to watch football on. You might be best off to buy a UHF adaptor for your PS2 so you can jack it into the cable plug on the cheap TVs in hotel rooms though.

Well, maybe you just wanted it for your house, but didn't think you could afford a nice big 27" TV. Ha ha, the specialty stuff is more expensive than the main stream. I just bought a 27" Sony Trinitron TV for $450 at Best Buy (including tax ...). Damn fine television, I strongly recommend it. And if you'd get off your lazy butt you could earn $400 in a month. I did when I was your age, and I was only mowing 5 yards a week. You know how easy that is? I mean, really ... I calculated that I was averaging $36 an hour. That's like double what I'm making now! There have been so many times I've thought about going back to mowing yards. I'd have to buy my own lawn mower, but I could pay it off in the first two weeks. And besides the great money, there are cool side benifites: you're outside, getting a tan, getting in shape, chicks wave at you when they drive by, you're making adult contacts for when you want a real job, and your parents' are like, "hey, the boy is actually off his lazy ass - hot damned!".

I wish people would THINK BEFORE THEY SPEAK! It sure would make the world more intelligent.

Sorry ZC, that wasn't directed at you personally. I deal with this all day at work. People ask my opinion or ask for advice and when I give it to them, the next question is always, "Hey, that's a lot of money. Can you get it for me cheaper?" My answer is always, "No, how about you learn to manage your money."

[rant]Well, Loud, maybe you can tell us technologically confused how long we have to listen to a computer guy make up excuses for why computers screw up a lot! One of my brothers is good with computers, not at your level, but he is smart with them. He'd say, after the family computer has crashed for the 30th time in two or 3 months, that I should not shake my fist in anger, noooo, I should be understanding. And we don't always hyper use, or whatever, the damn thing, I've had mess ups from having two lousy windows open and some music. Now, if I screw up, I'll take the blame, but just how many tech wizards honestly espouse the patience and you need to educate yourself line? True enough, but sometimes crap is crap. Ever notice that what you think should have been addressed years ago hasn't? Can't think of an example, but I have had occasionas where I've thought that a feature should have been there. You can blink and screw up a computer.

And I should point out that managing money is based on the premise that it can be done, in the case of parents, very hard to do unless parents deny their kids a lot of luxuries. Interestingly, manage usually centers around spending on necessities for balancing whatever, so it could be said that the process would likely exclude such things as the mini tv, though the end result of the balance is so that extras can be afforded. I know you weren't going after Zero, but commenting on the length of time needed to acquire 90 bucks for a tv is not exclusive from work, the saved money may be work money, or not, though I'm unsure about all zero has said, he may have given the impression that he would not or cannot work. I expect electronics to be competitively priced, but i lean capitalist conservative

Let me clear everything up. I can work but I dont have the time to. The only money I ever get is $10 for lunch every week and $20 for mowing the lawn, I would just withdraw the money I needed out of my Bank Account but my dad wont let me, I had to beg him to let me take out $20 this past weekend, he's in Charlotte and he forgot to leave me money. I do not want to take the TV on trips and Loud if i did I would buy the Toyota Matrix since it has a 2 prong power outlet in the car. I just want a tv so that I can send my replays out to everyone with my sharkport, but I will prolly go over to a friends house and do it there. I AM POOR ok I am not like Tazz who's family just got another car, a C5. About the price of the tv, I saw a 5inch black and white tv for $70 at Kroger 2 months ago and i thought that was too expensive so the $90 kind of shocked me.

I know I'm bring back a really old thread but does anyone have any of these portable game screens? Are they worth it? How "portable" are they? I'm thinking about getting one but I'm not sure if they are worth the trouble. BTW, I know about the PSP coming out. Thanks for your help.

I have a couple of them. They were $30 bucks a piece. Not bad for a B&W 5" TV set. No, they don't have video inputs, or I don't think they do. I never tried that yet. The tinny radio antenna might not be good enough to pick up all TV stations, but aluminum foil and empty soda cans can be a big help. Are they worth it? HELL YA! But remember, I'm a TV addict. I even have a radio that will play TV stations audio, but not video. Told you I was a hardcore TV watcher/listener.

I have one but it has crappy resolution. It slides right onto the (old) PS2 and works like that. I'm returning it though because it blacks out occasionaly, presumably because it overheats. It was $99.99.

Did u think about gettin an audio/video bus thing for your pc? They are MUCH cheaper than tvs, and you can use your existing pc monitor. If you need more ports, buy one of those things that makes one socket into two to go with it. Most pc monitors are lcd and just as good as a clipon ps2 one, if not a lot better. Loads of companies make them, as well as one called hapauguba or something like that. If you don't like that idea, i have seen 10in tvs for around $220, which is probably better than a five inch.
