I would like to hear some positive thinking about the GT5 and the facts that we know so far. Thus, please, be kind and leave whining and negative thinking outside.

IMHO, the new info revealed to us is at least 97,5% of what I expected it to be. Private lobbies, uploading replays to Youtube, listening to your own music while driving.. Excellent!👍 The car list is more than I could hope for. Usually the first new game on new platform is less than stellar, but I think that GT5P did it's job well, and now we get the complete treatment.
People who have jumped the gun based on early translations that had plenty of errors regarding the amount of tracks etc. And how about features that we did not expect? I did not even dream about tracking the head movement with eye toy for panning around the cockpit. That feature is more familiar for flight sim fanatics than usual racing sim drivers.

Just my thoughts, these are. Concentrate on positive things people should.

Damn dog just having a Gameplay video and a few nuggets of info is positive enough for me, now about the videos, the speed effects, trees, lighting, interactive environments, DETAIL (i loveee detail), the interior textures, and the notion that its right there, could almost smell it, is pretty positive.

Tokyo Route looks amazing. That are best graphics in a track I ever seen. And 1000+ cars it's awesome.

I have nothing but positive things to say about GT5 at this current stage. I haven't expected alot out of it other then to be even bigger and better then GT4 and so far, its already doing that.

I am not disappointed at all.. til we play the game we will know everything! I dont think Kaz will like to see lose his fans and let them down. in the videos i seen so far i believe it's old build. Don't Worry it's simple demo that we seen about 10%? other 90% that we haven't seen in FULL gameplay. Be positive!

Keep your head up! ;)

Sorry if my english is horrible. Oh well.

-> The positive notes on GT5 Demo: Gamescon Edition?

- 1,000 cars (maybe even more, the road to 10,000) :sly:
- I usually didn't like R246 since GT3; but after this, it looks like I like it now!
- Looks like the physics has drastically improved (more toward for people w/ wheels).
- Its just a demo!

-> And finally:

- This is only a snippet (ie. 4%) compared to the one that is coming up at TGS. This will make me very scared. :scared:

-> The road to GT5:

- GTHD is 0.5% of GT5
- GT5P is 15% of GT5
- GT5D:GC is 4% of GT5
- GTPSP is 55% of GT5
* GT5D:TGS may be 60% of GT5

:scared:

Tokyo R246. i mean, it's so lush, the HDR is amazing, the shadows are immersive. It feels so urban. Ever since playing all PGR's i have taken a huge liking to city tracks. If tokyo look's like that. i can just imagine how New york,Madrid,Soeul and London long and All the other courses will look.

1000 and probably alot more cars. No game, has achieved this numbers of cars in a game before. GT just basically set a world record, 1000+ vehicles. That is a massive number of cars. And were not just looking at nissan toyotas or hondas.. Now were looking at lamborghini, Bugatti, RUF,Ferrari excettera. 1000+ cars. all to collect. All to look at in there HD glory. all detailed interiors. from driving a dedicated Hybrid pruis through new york, to tearing along laguna seca in a hyundai genesis coupe 4.6. To ripping along the Long straight of the nurburgring in a bugatti veyron. or taking pictures of a ferrari scudderia in Italy. 1000+ car's is ALOT.

New physics, new AI. Damage. it's all there, and i'm thankfull. Cars seem life like. there movements look very real. It's like prologue times 10. And AI are no longer pushovers they fight back, there aggressive. they make real mistakes. they make real decisions.

Track deformation, Now this is a huge key feature. having tires flying over the hood of your car. or slamming into a huge wall of barriers that actually move. Very interactive.

Graphics. This game look's beautiful. It look's like a work of art rather then a video game. And the fact that all that GT5 E3 footage was in game after all. They took the bar in GT5p and through it up once again.

Online features. All of them.

Custom sound tracks. I have alot of PGR songs that need to be played. in GT5.

Head tracking. PD have done it again. First they gave us photorealistic cockpits.
And now there giving us head tracking, Which is what set games apart.

And last but not least. Real Chase veiw is back.

1. 1,000 cars
2. 1,000 cock-pit views (still unclear)
3. Lamborghini and Bugatti inferred to appear.
4. Online voice chat/private races.
5. Online championships.

To hell with all this stupid negativity. It's still GT, I still love it, and I'm looking forward to it more than ever.

Some damage, smashable trackside objects and tyre walls, STUNNING graphics, not to mention Ferrari, Lamborghini, and a whole bunch of other new models we've had since 2005 to present. And the Top Gear track, no less! :dopey:

GT5 is going to be an absolutely beautiful game, and it's definitely going in my stocking, if it's released by then. I don't understand what all this negativity is about... I mean, if there was no damage in that video, everything would be normal!

GT still owns :D

that demo looks amazing.

i hope pd release that demo on psn store just as a taster.

I think the reflections and lighting have vastly improved, not to mention the physics also seem better and so does the AI. But what really got my attention in the Tokyo track was the reflections off the buildings and even the car.

Yesterday I was a bit disappointed with the potential only 20 tracks, not all cars having damage, potentially only 10 cars on track at one time and damage appearing to be limited. The problem is that I expect perfection but it can't be achieved. I want to be able to adjust my wing mirrors!

However, today I'm more positive. Other than the "not all cars having damage" the others are not confirmed. If the track count is true I still fully expect more tracks later via DLC - I don't mind paying. The 10 cars on track could be just in the demo that we are seeing. The damage appearing to be limited may just be due to settings (e.g. arcade mode).

Reasons to be positive - admittedly some from the list briefly on the GT website which may or may not be true (and I suspect was a 'work in progress' list as what the choice of what was included seemed a little odd to me)... The number of cars is more than we could have realistically expected. The head tracking will be awesome if it works properly (I'd take this over damage any day). Private rooms. The graphics have been upgraded. The AI has improved. And we've now seen a playable GT5 which suggests the release date is creeping ever closer.

Finally, I have a suspicion PD/Sony are playing games. If GT5 is ready to "release at any time" then why have such a restricted demo at Gamescom. There are so many features in GT4 that we haven't seen in GT5 yet and I'm sure will be there (pitstops, tyre wear, champinships etc. etc.). I'm sure there is a lot, lot more to come very, very soon.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but one thing I've noticed is that car washes are making a return. I doubt we'll see the dull, non-reflective thing that used to happen to cars, so I am guessing that dirt will be making an appearance. We've seen it on the rally Subaru, but with a little luck, it will surely apply to race-cars too, which get absolutely covered in brake dust and bugs on long races. Another nice touch that I'm looking forward to.

edit. I am completely happy with improved collision physics and moveable barriers on the tracks. In my book, it makes up for not-so-great looking damage (if that is the full damage we're seeing) as it's always been the collision physics that bugged me about GT, rather than the undamaged cars.

Graphics, cars and track are on a sky-high level of detail.
1000+ cars is everything I dreamt of.
AI is well improved (from what I've seen).
Custom soundtracks, online championships, voice chat etc.

I have nothing but positive things to say about GT5 at this current stage. I haven't expected alot out of it other then to be even bigger and better then GT4 and so far, its already doing that.

A BIG AMEN to that RC.
All to make me happy added to GT5P is,the private online racing, true race cars, and the option of damage. 1000s of cars I could care less, I will probably only use a handful of them anyway.

Although im not completely sure but i have heard numerous reports that the cars suffered from mechanical damage after continuous wall hitting, mechanical damage included the car being unable to get past gear 4 which will really stop them bastard online players who use the walls, they certainly will be shocked when they suddenly cannot reach the speeds they previously were reaching.

Im not sure whether this is included to all the cars (hopefully it is) or whether its just those cars which have physical damage implemented.

The more I watch those in-game and replay movies (some frame by frame), the more impressed by the game so far I get.

Eventhough all the footage is off-screen, it looks absolutely stunning. The shade from the trees and other non-animated objects; the different colors and sunshine on the trees; the hugh amount of detail all around the track. Not to mention how good coloring and lighting seem to reflect real-life.

To me the physics seem to have made a great leap foreward compared to Prologue, tyre deformation just being one of the observable trades. The improved physics are most visible with the collisions (both with barriers and other cars). It doesn't look anymore like those carnavalesque bumber cars bouncing about.

I will have to try for myself, to get a feel for the car handling itself. So no comment on that.

Kaz has said at the E3 that he didn't want to do damage too well, or rather too much like real life, because a race would be over way too fast. Instead he opts for somewhat tuned-down damage physics. And as we have seen with the dents and scratches in some of the videos, he has done exactly that. But as we have heard, when you crash too hard, your car will still be out of the race.

I love that there are now more track side objects (tyre walls, plastic traffic dividers and something alike Lego blocks) that can be moved. Not that it is important, but it is fun. I remember to push cones all the way around a track in an older GT game (I think it was at Rome). :dopey:

I'm not impressed by the lack of spectators around the track. I wouldn't sit on those stands just to watch some cars doing some practice laps either. :sly:

The only thing I don't like, is that image tearing is still there. :nervous:

The graphics look amazing. I haven't been this impressed about graphics since the release of GT3 A-spec (you know, the advert where a car pulls up at Deep Forest Raceway)

Every bit of new info we get about GT5 is positive IMO

I believe that the initial problems with the negativity around here stem from people's own greatly un-realistic and unfounded expectactions not being met, and is something I was, to an extent, guilty of as well.

It seems things here are back on the up with regards to general mood, and rightly so. I mean just think about it, even if we got GT4 with the graphics and physics of GT5P, it would be an amazing game. With all the extra features that have come to light in the past couple days, GT5 is already an epic game.

Hi all,
I've been reading all these posts with interest and could not believe the negativity towards the GT5 previews at Gamescom so felt this was the perfect opportunity to make a first post on GTP.

I for one was very happy with the GT5 videos from Gamescom and to be honest I was quite overawed by it all. I mean the first massive positive was the graphics and track details, particularly the building details and trees of the Tokyo R246.

The second massive positive was the damage on the Subaru. I have been playing Gran Turismo since the first game and I have managed without damage all these years so i would not have minded damage not being in the game. However the fact that it is has put a massive :) on my face.

Thirdly and finally, the physics seemed a lot better along with the AI. Which made it look like a much more polished and real driving experience.

Now hopefully the rallying physics, day/night cycles and dynamic weather will be revealed at TGS...:sly:

The Race Editor - being able to create you own competition series and share with your buddies is going to take the online side of things from zero to the benchmark online racer IMO.

Another positive observation: Something to suggest that the list given was not a comprehensive list of features: No mention of vehicle trading, something that has been basically confirmed (100% in GT:M, surely in GT5 also). From interviews with Kaz, seems like they're very keen on the idea of trading, so there you have one of probably many features that are still being kept under wraps for the big reveal. Point being: there's more to come.

hmm.. I wonder.. if there is an auction house, it would help selling tuned cars :D that would mean no need to repeat the races one after another to buy cars and tune them..

The big plus points for me:
- 1,000 cars - wow! :D
- Private online games, VoIP
- The damage looks great
- WRC! I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this
- The E3 trailer
- Possible car transfer with GT PSP which I just recently bought a PSP for :)

Well said, Amar.
How can people say that Tokyo looks like GT4 ? Everything looks so amazing.
I just can't wait for GT5, GT5 and Heavy Rain.

GT5 would be my favourite game if it was simply GT4 + GT5 P graphics.

So its already done this plus some.

All hail the king :P
