Possible Rally Car DLC?

I've just watched the new Spec 2.0 intro on my laptop for the 26 billionth time this week (you gotta admit, it is quite epic!), and I've just noticed something that could be quite interesting.

When it gets to the snow rally stage sequence, a red Mitsubishi Evo X is seen powersliding around a corner. At first, I thought it was just the Evo X TC you can get in the current DLC. But now I'm not so sure.

I can't put any screenshots up, as my laptop doesn't seem to want to do that. But if you look at the red Evo yourself, and compare it with the blue Touring Car, you'll note some differences between the two.

The wheels, for instance, are a different design and colour to the Touring Car's. Also, unlike the Touring Car, there are no stickers on the front bumper of the rallying Evo.

I could be completely wrong, of course. There is no official confirmation that there will be a such a car available in the game via an update or DLC. But with quite a lot of features being speculated as a result of the new Intro Movie (Test Track, Drag Racing, Audi R8 LMS being made Premium etc), it could be seen as a relatively safe bet.

Also, considering that the current crop of DLC cars are mostly branded as "Touring Cars", instead of "Race Modified" (the general concensus is that they do share many similarities with the 17 RM cars currently in the game) suggests that, should there be any future downloadable content for GT5, there is a possibility that we could get a "Rally Car Pack".

So, what do you think? Do you guys reckon that we might be getting more DLC cars along this sort of line? Would you be interested in them? Or am I being a bit too ambitious for my own good?

I would so much more prefer normal production cars that we can tune and modify than some rally cars that no-one barely uses anyways.

The car is actually the Evo X TC. When you put snow or dirt tyres on premiums the wheels change depending on the tyre. There's usually the normal wheel that you can change, a white one with snow tyres and another one for dirt tyres that can be white or gold depending on the car. Amazingly though, the only cars that have the same wheels when using any tyres are the premium rally cars!! :dunce:

Interesding.

Agree with you GfxJG.
Would have been fun to have old sierra cossie, bmw m3 e30, kadett gsi and so on.

I'd love a rally car pack, they're my favorite type of car :) I really want a premium Audi Sport Quattro road version that we can RM into the S1! Though PD doesn't seem big on rally so I doubt we'll ever get anything :/

Best rally car to have would be Ken Blocks :D that & his outfit & i would be sorted.

There was a rumour that Pike's Peak was going to be in GT5 so maybe.

A rally car pack wouldn't be hard to make.

'cept Block is in bed with DiRT and Code Masters.

What is it about Block that everyone loves? I dont see it. Sure, the gymkhana vids are sweet, but after the first one, it got old. I love rallying and absolutely would buy a DLC pack of cars. He is a good driver, but not good enough for the WRC. He should have done the P-WRC or S-WRC before jumping into the main championship. I mean, he couldnt even win the Rally America title.

Back on topic, PD should give us the Evo VII Prototype Rally Car '01 again. I miss that car, and Smokey Mountain for that matter. Maybe a DLC with all the GT4 tracks updated would be enough for me.

THANK YOU!

On the topic, I would love more rally cars. Would be nice to get them along with some more dirt/snow tracks from days gone by.

Rally cars would be cool, if only we had rally events to use them on :(

Glad someone agrees with me.

The R8 LMS is standard I think in the trailer.

Or the subaru impreza RM.

I just thought it was the the tc car painted red.

For those who don't know, this is the rumor.

I would like to have more rally cars (Ken Block's would be awesome as someone mentioned), but I'd prefer road cars.

To anyone who doesn't think Ken Block is one of the best rally racers, check yourself before you wreck yourself. :)

I'm not just talking about that video of him drifting and all that, but he is a great racer.

Side note
Jeff Gordon is an all around good racer, too. He isn't solely an amazing NASCAR driver, he's good with car control in general.

Until we actually get some rally tracks in the game I'm not interested. A total of three rally tracks (plus their shorter variations) is pitiful, and the track generator isn't really capable of generating anything that feels or looks much like a rally track except for the road surface.
Saying that rally racing was a half baked inclusion would be giving it far too much credit.

If GT5 had a decent selection of rally tracks I wouldn't be playing WRC 2 at the moment (a game that's flawed in many areas, but the huge selection and variety in stages and locations certainly isn't one of them).

It is standard.
But i can be sure the next DLC would be another RM car.
PD should give the latest road car for free. :D
