When you damage a car does it repair on it's own or do you go somewhere to fix it?

Also if you do not fix it does it affect the aerodynamics of the car?

Car repairs automatically after the race, but to repair it in the race, you have to make a pitstop.

Damage can effect many things, like steering and power.

From my limited experience, I've noticed it affects handling and performance, but only for a short period of time (20 seconds???). This may also depend on the regulations setup in an online room.

But no, you don't have to repair it yourself after a race.

An additional question occurs to me: Will a damaged car need oil changes and engine rebuilds sooner than one that has not suffered much damage?

Cool cheers lads. I think it should stay mangled! Haha

You're speaking of online racing.
My experience is the following.

1) offline-racing / high damage: damage doesn't disappear after 20 seconds. Nothing changes until you make a pitstop.
2) Online: I was the pacecar driver for this high-damage race: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=168390
Damage was permanent, until pitstop.

But I don't know what happens if damage is set on "low".
