Post 1.02: Do gamers still feel like they're being forced into micro-transactions?

With the introduction of high payout seasonals, login bonuses, increased race winnings across the board, and a price drop of over half for most Le Mans prototypes compared to 1.00, does anyone still feel that the game is geared towards micro-transactions?

It feels to me that it's much easier to earn money compared to the first months after Gran Turismo 5's release, and to be honest I feel sorry for anyone that's invested in micro-transactions.
 
Its like taking a homeless man off the street, giving him a 500 million dollar winning lotto ticket, and asking him, do you still feel poor? The answer to that question and your question from my opinion is no. This is an opinionated question, and I'm not going to answer it like a fact like some people on GTPlanet do, but I haven't been pressured after 1.02. Before 1.02, the suggestions were there for buying MT, but literally, there is a 900k seasonal race. ITS OVER 900,000! and thats without the login bonuses, so at 200%, you make almost 2m a race.

The amount of money thrown at you is obvious now, but then there are still those who quite frankly, suck, they can't drive, or they don't have enough time or patience to sharpen their skills, so they may still buy, but that percentage is probably extremely minute now after 1.02.
 
To be honest I'm surprised they've managed to turn it around so quickly, I just hope that the payouts stay reasonably high after christmas as well.

They probably would, but it would be more toned down, maybe down to 100-400k payouts. But with 200% log in, making mills a day would be easy. Earning a 20m car shouldn't be done in a day for the average gamer, that lowers this games replayability and fun factor. To me being an average gamer is spending maybe 1-2 hours a day, 3-4 at the higher end.

I'm happy that the payouts are high, but this seems to be just a christmas and new years present. 12m promised for all gold events is quite a lot of money. Keeping it in the 100-400k events still promotes grinding, but not too much, and it doesn't make the game too easy. Just my 2 cents of thought.

Sounds about right. I think after christmas we'll have that balance between replayability and being able to access the special cars.
 
What special cars are you talking about? Tbh I didn't like the Hudson, history blah blah I get it, but did you mean Vision GT cars?

I consider 250 GTOs, 330 P4s, Miuras etc. 'special' :)

That glitch is possibly the biggest blunder by PD or by any modern game developer. They couldn't reset everyone because some people bought MT, they couldn't ban people because too many people glitched. LOL.
 
I think the micro transactions are pretty irrelevant now. Personally I think Sony pushed PD into doing the pay for additional credits thing and that not much effort has been made by PD in pushing people to purchase them. It's nice to have the option, but to me its just business as usual in terms of playing and banking credits in a new GT game.
 
I have no desire to pay real money for gt money. The credits earned by playing through normally are ok to me (after1.02), though it will take a long time to afford the high price cars, that's part of the game to me.
If you have the cash and want to get into specific cars quick that makes sense too though.
Something substantial like a new track might be worth buying, for a small price.
I don't like the idea of paying for car packs at all.
Individual cars, if it was a favorite of mine, I might buy, wouldn't pay much though.
 
Considering that the update hasn't even been around long enough for us to get the five day continuous log in bonus, we should wait and see. I'm sure it will help a ton though.
 
lol, it says that you can clearly pull in 6m plus another 6m after new years. 12m, idk if thats with login bonuses or not, but if it is, 24m is quite a pretty penny.

I think PD should quietly remove microtransactions if seasonal events are going to get better. Seasonals that can be replayed to earn credits would be nice again.

Without the glitch, MT might seem more appealing to some, but with this glitch being reported on almost every gaming website and with payouts so good, MT is worthless.

Offer me a HDTV for 200$ or go work a job for an hour and get 400$. That's what it feels like to me now.

I didn't pay for MT or glitch, but I feel for those who paid for their credits. PD is giving a warm hug to the 99% who didn't buy credits, but by making everything easier to buy with more credits, they gave a giant middle finger to the ones who used MT. lol I told them so.
 
Thankfully! I am glad. Check it. I worked for about 2 days trying to get the aventador and I got 275,655 credits. Then the patch came and I played the Hudson race and I spiked up to 800,000. That is more like it PD. I just drove my Aventador around Willow. Yeah baby!
 
Beyond the people that wanted everything day 1, were we really ever 'forced' into anything? I surely never felt like I was short on money even before this patch. Now I'm buying cars left and right.
 
Nope. Makes my insane,daunting task of collecting all cars (and possibly in all colours) a tiny bit more possible.
 
I never did. I felt like I was being encouraged into using it, but not forced.

I still feel like the AI is garbage and the races aren't fun.
 
I'm entertained that they've essentially made the same mistake as GT5. Payouts far too low to start with, then far too high after they "fixed" them.

You'd think they'd have learned something in the past three years. There's a happy medium where cars are affordable yet you feel some pressure to choose your purchases instead of simply buying everything, and PD haven't gotten anywhere near it yet.
 
No one has forced anyone to spend real cash for credits. Some of you have to give up on this idea that PD is forcing you to do so. It's an option. Yes or no, plain and simple.

I think that balance had been restored to the Force so to speak.

No I DON'T feel sorry for anybody who paid real world cash for in game credits. I'm all for unfettered capitalism but I'm even more for "don't 🤬 your customer base". I have no problem buying extra content like cars and tracks when they become available as long as they are optional. Being steered to microtransactions in order to keep advancing in a game I already paid for is unacceptable.
 
I didn't feel pressured to begin with and I certainly don't now. I guess MTs were mainly aimed at people who either didn't have a lot of time to be grinding for credits or for those that just must have the cars on day 1. As for me, I was slightly disappointed with the low credits to begin with but was fine with it as I have the time to grind. I feel the new Seasonals/Red Bull Challenges are paying out too highly. Before these were introduced, I had probably earnt maybe 2M credits or so (not exactly sure offhand), now I am over 12M credits (the difference from doing all the Seasonals at 110% login bonus as well as Red Bull Junior races at 130% bonus). I like the increased payouts for the various races and championships but the Seasonals need to be set more realistically as GT5 was just too siily
 
I couldn't login yesterday because life happened. I am glad that my login bonus did not reset to 110%. It went back by two days so I will be caught up by tomorrow. I think that is very fair. Credit wise, I am very happy with where credits won are now. I feel like I will enjoy building my virtual garage :)
 
Game economy is fine now. It's perfectly realistic to buy all the cars you want. What is unrealistic is to have all the cars (without doing any races) - just for them to be in the garage without you driving them - which is what many people are talking about.

There is a lots of cars but no one said you NEED to have ALL of them in the garage - all the 15 Honda's 2000 ? Really ?

Can you even find time during the day to DRIVE (duh!) all those cars you want NOW NOW NOW NOW ?

Nope.

Rewards are big enough to buy vast majority of cars in between races to keep things flowing nicely. It's only if you want the 20mln ones you'll need to suspend the shopping spree for a while - again nothing wrong in making players work a bit extra for a handful of special cars.

GT is not an arcade space shooter - you don't rush to complete it. You drive, get credits then buy something you wanna drive next - then you ENJOY and EXPERIENCE that car on SEVERAL tracks, get credits for that and so on ;)

At least that's how I play this game and I enjoy every moment of it...well maybe apart from Veyron license test :sly:
 
Seriously, i started playing GT6 2 days ago and i already have 1,5M credits!
And to make the MT even more useless, i only bought 3 cars. 3! The FIT RS '10(which you're forced to do it), a X2014 Junior and a Supra RZ(THAT'S NOT PREMIUM! PD, it's a 90's Japanese sport car. there's no excuse to not be one.).
The other cars? I got it by prizes AND the voucher code for the 15th anniversary cars.
