From the first time that I heard the discussion about having the post count removed, I was in support of it.

I had no idea how much it would really affect my feeling towards members and how I look at them. I didn't realize how my competitive clouded my mind in some ways. Now I can honestly say I truely feel like everyone, new or old is on the same level. I find myself reading everyone posts, and enjoying threads without thinking "their just posting that to increase their post count." I see it now as just a general discussion between members.

I hope this doesn't make me sound like a butthole, I am just trying to state that the idea of removing the post count was a really good one!

Yeah Magic it was. I notice that as well. I never thought I was like that, but I guess I was. Now, I too read everyones posts. I no longer think that they make certain posts to up post counts. It's weird. Having no post counts was for the better. :)

It looked a bit odd, when I first saw it.
But I really think it was a clever move. Lets all try to keep the "post-whoring" to a minimum. :) 👍

I agree 100%. 👍

One good example is in the GT3 forum... in the past, "n00bs" would sometimes have good, sound advice, but they'd be ignored since their post count was too little to be of "any significance"... now, everyone is on equal footing. Not only has it helped the older members, but it seems to me that since new members know that they won't be judged by post count, they're more confident in saying what needs to be said. :)

  It doesnt make you sound like a butthole. Lol  Yeah, I would have to agreee with you there on the post count thing. ;)

I also felt the same way Magic, as i tended to skip a few posts...but now i don't and i read all of the people's posts :)

Personally, I don't think the post count mattered after 1000 posts. Besides, I have full confidence in the moderators to eliminate any sort of "post-whoring" -- especially for individuals who post to get to 1000.

Yes, whoring is usually left to the "Colour Blue" thread in the Test forum.

Post counts arent really 'gone', they're just harder to see and now you can't glance at the number and assume something. I think it was a good move. 👍

Well I'm missing the post counts..it was nice to see the newbies buliding there counts up and becoming a dedicated GTP poster.

It was also great to see those who had post counts in the thousands who were obviously major contributors?

Yeh, but you can still check on the "newbies" posting habits by the custom titles under their names, if you really want to know...;)

Alex, have you tried looking at the member list sorted by number of posts (just click on "members" at the top of the page)? That should prove helpful if you're looking for that info.

Yes, if it's 4 digits you're looking for there are plenty on the first few pages of the "members" list...
