Just wondering what all of you guys are running for ebrakes. Trying to figure out which real ebrake would be the best to adapt. I've got a line on a couple mk3 VW ebrake setups, which I would prefer as that's what car I drive, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to set up with my G27.

Here's my setup. Handbrake is from a Honda S2000

I replaced the original switch on the handbrake for a microswitch. For some reason, the original switch caused problems with my G25.

Question for GT5... Can I take my handbrake and wire it to a sixaxis controller and use a wheel at the same time??

I barely understood but were you asking if instead of a handbrake you wire to sixaxis (wouldn't that be hard though?)

Huh??? I am asking if I can be using a wheel like the GT3RS V2 and have a handbrake that is connected to a sixaxis ps3 controller and use both at the same time. The handbrake wires would be soldered to one of the buttons on the controller...

So basically can you have a wheel and a controller hooked up at the same time in game and use both of them??

the wheel is the controller. it would be like using two Sixaxis for player 1. its not possible. that's one of the bonuses of the g25/g27 most of the buttons are on the shifter and are easily modded.

btw Stega im sure you have read this plenty of times, but MAN YOUR setup is SUPER SWEET! and causes much jealousy in me :-D

No, you're wrong.

You can indeed use a wheel and sixaxis controller at the same time.

I thought that was right. But I heard (I read..) someone say in GT5P you can use both at the same time as controller 1... Can anyone else confirm what Ping says??

Thanks for the compliment Ping.

Yes you can use a wheel and DS3 at the same time. This is the route I'm looking at going down. Stripping a DS3 and soldering directly to the pcb. Then attaching a micro-switch and lastly a handbrake.

Prologue wasnt releasd two weeks that I noticed using a PAD and a WHEEL together was possible. Using a joypad attached to the G25 and using the pads analogue sticks for looking left and right. Of couse this works for other games as well.

Previously showed it possible in my own thead using a joystick for looking left and right and up/down as sequential gearstick.

The only situation I have come across that doesnt work is the DFGT and another wheel plugged in. I was trying to see if the analogue ring dials on the DFGT would work using the "Dual controllers to channel 1 trick" They dont unfortunately, had hey then my DFGTwould likely of ended up as a dash mod for its dials.

"Dual controllers to channel 1 trick"

Can you elaborate on that??? Is there anything special I need to do??

Nope.

You just have them both plugged in.

It isn't a matter of having them both assigned to channel one. The wheel is recognized as the wheel and then you can also use a standard controller with it.

Well I know this thread is old but I thought I would add my 2 cents, as well as to try to answer the original question which has been ignored.

I found while checking many cars at the junkyard that a 96 VW Passat (they made more than just 96's so there are others to chose from) handbrake was a great option due to the leather boots design. The boot had a flange with tabs on it at the bottom so that all thats needed for a clean installation is a precicely cut hole and then this boot simply snaps in place.

I chose this method because I wanted to install just the handbrake and its boot and not a large plastic center console which many cars use to finish off the boot trim.

hell I even had an old handbrake to use from a honda but the boots design kept me from using it.

Can someone tell me the default button for e-brake/handbrake in GT5P I have not played it in some time and forgot, and am wiring up my handbrake to an old dualshock3.

Circle.

Pretty sure it's been circle in every GT.

so those of you who have a wheel (G27 for example) but don't have an e-brake like this (which is awesome, btw, and I'm jealous), how do you use the e-brake?

Not a big deal for normal racing since it's not necessary, but for drifiting and rally it's obviously important. Do you just use a button on the steering wheel? Or one of the buttons near the shifter?

I've bought a G27 and a cockpit to get ready for GT5, but never thought about the e-brake.

I've got mine remapped to a button on the shifter. It's a huge hassle and most of the time I mess up the timing or hit the wrong button. As a result, I usually just forget about the e-brake, and I've become much better at using weight transfer to initiate drifts.

You could remap it to a button (or two!) on the wheel if you have a G27, but I've got a G25 and wheel buttons are for look left/right.

I use the left paddle on my PTSW.
Using that allows me to keep one hand comfortably on the wheel and one hand free to downshift (sequential), if need be.

Ok so I am having some trouble.. perhaps someone could be helpful.

I am trying to solder my handbrake to a ps3 dualshock3 controller, I found a diagram of the supposed solder spots for a ground and the circle button but when I make the connection and pull the e brake it pushes multiple buttons not just one. Does anyone know where the correct solder positions are??? or have another solution or advice????

i have a DFGT and have re-assigned the up-shift on the sequential stick to use as the 'e' brake, and the down shift to use as reverse, and just use the shift buttons (paddles) for gears

Stega, remember the joystick I bought and had shown on the thread?

I have a BMW handbrake looks almost identical to the one shown here and I had considered placing the buttons from the joystick into a panel beside the seat close to a handbrake.

It should be rather easy to solder a wire from a microswitch onto the contact of the joysticks PCB for the appropiate button. Didnt chillicoke have a video showing this with the G25. Should be a similar principle. Maybe its harder with a joypad, knowing where/what to solder so I will open up my joystick to see if it might be any easier.

A benefit in doing it with a seperate controller or joystick is that you will be able to use the handbrake with any wheel using the "Handbrake" via a seperately connected controller channel. Personally I like the idea of having some Playstation buttons at easy reach beside the seat too so the joystick seems ideal. Also with a wired joystick you wont have to worry about charging the controller, ehh.

To do the channel 1 trick just hold in the PS button on your device and goto the controller option to turn it to channel 1.
I noticed the PS Move Navi Controller always signs in on Channel 7. As long as your controller has a PS button you can do this, note some joysticks or wired pads may not have the PS button.

btw "the_greeze" that looks quite smart mate...

Yhea that large "blaze" joystick may be much easier and I would also appreciate a few extra large buttons on the cockpit w/ easy access. I may look into this. If you do open up the controller could you please take a few pictures for me.

Okay, you owe me, lol.

Here you go, I think this might be easy enough and I assume its a matter of soldering a cable to those two points.

Thanks Latte. Looks like I may be purchasing one of these.

Has anyone had any luck wiring a handbrake to their dual-shock 3?? As we know you can have both the wheel and controller working at the same time as player 1. Please Advise.

I wasn't sure if you could have the controller and a wheel working at the sametime. It won't be any problem throwing together an e-brake now. I really didn't want to tear into my fanatec (when i get it) to wire up and e-brake. Awesome.
