Personally, I've gotten in a pretty big fender bender while intoxicated (pretty embarrassing, as I
never drink.

Which sort of led up to that. When you're in college and drunk at least once a month, you kind of recognize when you're too impaired to drive, so you don't. I wasn't anymore, so I did.
So my views on drunk driving are obviously... it's ****ty, stupid, and you shouldn't do it.
I know a lot of people who get high, and who drive while high and/or intoxicated. While accident rates are higher for driving while intoxicated, I don't think you should drive under either condition.
I tried driving a few blocks once under allergy medication (emergency, needed stuff for the baby, badly), and though I drove very carefully, because I
knew I was impaired. Still, if some kid ran out in front of me, it would take me much longer to see and recognize the threat and brake to a stop. I'm never doing that again, either.
Driving while stoned? You may not be a danger to other people, but you're not going to be able to
avoid danger as well as you could if you were fully aware of your surroundings.
Driving with any sort of impairment, sleep deprivation, the flu, benadryl, pot, alcohol, is not something you want to do in a country where everyone drives like they're half-stoned, half-drunk
all the time. Heck, often have to tell my wife to stop talking to me while driving, because the amount of concentration you need when driving in the city here is migraine inducing.
