Brabus SV 12 S BiTurbo

German Merc tuner Brabus is to launch its powered-up version of the latest Mercedes S-Class - the one fitted with the V12 engine - at the Geneva Motor Show.

The S600's 517bhp/612lb-ft engine has been enlarged to 6.3 litres and fitted with a modified pair of turbos, new intake and exhaust systems and new camshafts, to give 730bhp and 974lb-ft.

The new engine will haul the super-saloon from 0-60mph in four seconds and up to a top speed - said to be electronically limited - of 211mph.

...Saw the Q7 at Chicago, and I was pretty impressed. I liked it a lot better than the X5s and ML550s Ive been in, so Audi may have a hit on their hands.

...As far as the Opel GT is concerned, will they admit that it was an American-designed (and possibly built) car? Also, is the interior going to be any differnt from the Saturn version?

On both basis about the opel GT I cant say for sure. Celebs love driving american cars over here in Europe so I doubt they will want to hide the fact. They will probably say its an american product sent over to europe and then fine tuned for european usage. I think some parts of the interior will change such as seats and maybe the steering wheel.

Dear Fiat,

Hi, can you please wrap up and ship me one of these in midnight blue please?

Thank you,

It's funny that the Opel GT is a Kappa.

Oh, and is it just me, or is the Jeep Compass über ugly? :indiff:

The X1/99 was designed by MA design students at Turin's prestigious IED (Instituto Europeo di Design).
The X1/99 is intended as a modern succesor to the Fiat X/19.

The X1/99 concept is based on a Punto platform, and is intended to compete in the Vauxhall Tigra, Peugeot 206 cc market.

Oh snap!! :dopey:

Please, please, please, let it be mid-engined and rear-wheel-drive! :nervous:

...You didnt know that the Opel GT was a Kappa car? Its an exact replica of the Saturn Sky besides the Opel badge in the grille, on the steering wheel, and on the trunk, offers the same engine and transmission combos, and presumably the same suspension and steering setups. I would expect a better interior in the GT however, being that it is going into a compeditive class in Europe.

BTW: GM and Saturn had said when the Sky was first introduced that they took design cues directly from the Vauxhall VX Lightning concept from a few years ago, which lead many people to believe that the car would be the successor to the current VX220 and Speedster from their respective brands.

Does anyone know if Q7 will offer a glass-top version?
since the concept has it, and I think it looks really nice

I already knew about it, and I knew as soon as I saw the Sky that I was looking at "the next Speedster." I simply find it funny that Detroit is sending a platform over to Germany, instead of the other way around as usual. :)

If I recall correctly, however, the engine that is used in the Sky, Solstice, and GT is an Opel design.

Yeah, a good number of the engine designs used in the smaller American cars are Opel designed, and built. The Supercharged 2.2L ECOTEC engine found in the Cobalt SS/Ion Redline (if I remember correctly) is handbuilt in Germany before making it's way to the United States.

Although these days, I think GM has been taking some of their older engine designs over to Germany and having their Opel teams rework some of the powerplants to make them smoother and more efficent. If I remember correctly they did it with the 3.5L V6 thats in the American Epsilon, Theta, and W-Body platforms.

Woah, when did Fiat start making hot cars?

Ok, that Bentley GTs disc brakes are larger then my stock rims. That thing could probably stop on a dime and give you a 5 cents change.

...I'm not a fan of the GT, but the special eddition sure looks nice.

Ugh....that's just sad. Why don't they just expand Opel's manufacturing facilities and place the entire GM lineup in the hands of the Germans? 💡

 IMO these alone are worth going, let alone all the other cool stuff. How many millions are tied up right there in those five cars?

So, basically, even the German's can't stop the Ecotec from sounding like a blender full of ice?

Well, the ECOTEC is a German design. It was in Opels and Vauxhalls long before it came 'Stateside.

...I personally dont have a problem with it. When was the last time GM had a high-quality I4 that could compete with the rest of the world's engines? Hmmm? Maybe the Quad4, and that is a stretch...

FIAT SpA only owns 56% of Ferrari, but they operate as an independant company... The last time FIAT and Ferrari worked on something together (atleast recently) was the re-introduction of Maserati a few years back.

Not to mention Ferrari's cars keep on getting less and less hot-looking with each new model. :indiff:

The 599 and 612 look good, but they arent as beautiful as the 575M or 456GT, I'll give you that. But Ferrari put itself in the same position that BMW finds itself in at the moment; How can you improve uppon something when it has allready been deemed by so many as perfect?

Unfortunately, that's probably the second best thing they could do (the first being put Holden in charge). They could probably sell way more Zafiras here than Uplanders, Relays, Montana SV6s and Terazzas combined. Chances are the next gen Relay will be a rebadged Zafira.

What bugs me the most is why GM has put so much money and effort into keeping Saturn afloat while at the same time letting Oldsmobile shrivel up and die. 🤬

Oldsmobile was in somewhat of a jaded position that straddled the line between Buick and Cadillac while being only a step above Pontiac. It is easily one of the most confusing brands to ever sit in the American GM lineup, and although I was not happy to see Oldsmobile go, it was a necessary step to help streamline the GM product line.

I'm all for the proliferation of the Opel/Vauxhall/Holden line here in the US. Thankfully Saturn is slowy becoming the US version of Opel, which will hopefully yeild some great products in the next few years. Hey, maybe if GM gets smart, they will import the Corsa or Tigra to compete with the Fit and Yaris...
