PP: new cars have a higher number depite being down on power

Why is it that a new X2010 with 0 miles has a higher PP (980) than the same car but with an oil change (977) or the same car with a few hundred miles on the clock (972)?? ie. as the hp goes up, the PP go down!

Sorry for the crappy pic quality - only have my iPhone on me.

I think PD are trying to reward you for running in and keeping fresh oil - ie. thereby lowering the PP and letting you use the spare PP for tuning upwards in restricted races!!

my x2010 with 14k miles, 49 wins and 1332HP has a PP of 982, while one of my others with 3k miles, 41 wins and 1556hp has a pp of 969. it is a really wierd system!

The new 'performance points' system introduced with the update today. Rates cars from 1-1000, the higher the PP the more performance it's supposed to have.

Unfortunetly it seems to be the opposite when comparing the same cars.

Perhaps as PP are there as a racing restriction, it's to encourage you to lower the PP as far as you can by running in and keeping fresh oil in the engine???

1. Complete B-Spec = level 40 = you can buy the X2010 from the New Car Dealership
2. Get to 20M credits
3. Back up your game onto a USB memory stick
4. Buy an X2010, gift it to another account
5. Restore your saved game - to get your 20M credits back
6. Gift it back to your main account

...a new X2010 per day
 
To compare apples with oranges here:

X2010 (coloured) 0 miles with oil change = 977
X2010 (prototype) 0 miles with oil change = 972

Does anyone have a zero mile, Vettel or Prototype with no oil changes to compare 980 to?

Yes but why would exactly the same car with the same settings and tyres,

* (orange) one from the factory = 1437hp = 980 pp
* (white) the other from the factory but with boosted hp from an oil change = 1509hp = 977 pp

Both zero miles.

I haven't touched any settings on the white X2010 or the orange one.

* Then you have the red one with a couple hundred miles on it = 1556hp = 972 pp

The red one is certainly the fastest, and I havent touched any tyres/downforce etc on there either.

So the faster you make the car with oil/running-in the lower the PP. It's got to be my suggestion of PD doing this deliberely to push people to maintain their cars as much as they can, so they can then use the spare PP for tuning upwards...

Tyres and downforce affect the pp, quite considerably actually.
 
but can someone explain how my endurance race X1 has 999 PP but has done 48,038.7 miles AND only has 1385BHP AND needs an oil change AND hasnt had an engine restore since about 20,000 miles

Correction - the cars are not duped - the MONEY is. So if each car in GT5 has a unique serial number on it, then in the whole world all my X2010's would be unique. I hate grinding (I have better things to do) so duping money already earned is a good alternative.
