PP Performers?

In Forza, PI (Performance Index) seems to take into account everything (or pretty close, as near as I can tell). Even if you do have a system that takes into account all aspects of a car's performance, it still isn't perfect because you can still have scenarios in which you want more of one aspect than another.

I think Forza's Performance Index is slightly better than Granturismo's but at times I have found 200 PI cars beating a 500 PI car in forza 3.

That's right, after 550pp it just doesn't have the power to keep up.

You're right, but it's still a game. With the abs settings braking zones can be very consistent. I still can't find a better track that flows well and the variety.

What about Deep Forest reverse? There are more severe braking zones in the central part of the track. PS nice interesting thread 👍

I was amazed to find out that weight balance affects pp. For some reason my 908 had a 53/47 weight distribution and a pp of about 685 (it was detuned). After moving the weight back so it was now 47/53 the pp was up to about 689.
The chapparel 2j (the fridge) is amazing between 550pp and 600pp if youre using race cars. Because gt5 think it has almost no downforce (no aero downforce anyway) so it make the pp much lower. Meaning you can have 900kg and 650-700 bhp and about 600pp. But i has the fans sucking it down so it corners really great. You even start to get used to only 3 gears after a while.....

Yeah 2J at 600pp it's almost like cheating, and the new ballast system react different now, adding pp's if you move weight to the front or rear end. This mean some ballast tunes are slyghtly less competitive now, making people come back tweaking.. not a bad thing imho.

I used to use Trial Mountain all the time to get a feel for a car. However, I found it was causing me to tune cars with very soft suspensions so they could handle the bumps. When I moved to other circuits, the settings didn't translate well. I personally hate Deep Forest but I should probably spend more time there.

A quick question about Deep Forest, is it fair game to put 4 wheels on the concrete sections? It makes that series of turns much easier by straightening the brake zone. I'm not sure if people use it when posting times on this forum. it doesn't cause an invalid time as far as I know.

I've always obeyed the rule: No more than 2 tires across the curb. To drive on that concrete, you violate the rule.

I wish it was slicker or a penalty, but it is what it is and some people insist it's part of the track.

the caterham is over rated it has to much PP stock is 626

But, If someone were to tame it and race at Grand valley, or deep forest even, It would be very competitive. it also comes down to driving style. If you go and drive 1500kg cars, the minute you go into a lightweight 1000kg or less, you will do quite poorly. Vice versa. Its not that a car is over rated, its just people cant drive it.

This.

It seems almost any model nsx are beasts in PP races.
Yeah, the elise is almost worthless in PP races.

But the real question you forgot to ask is at what track? The track makes all the difference when it comes to car selection. Nimble cars for technical tracks and high HP cars for high speed tracks.

A good track to benchmark your vehicles on is Deep Forest. I know not everyone likes that track for whatever reason, but the track will really put your car through it's paces. It WILL show your vehicles demons inside, and it's not too long of a course to master.

nah ive noticed the nurb does a better job of that
