Hey all, so today I started to think that tuning certain cars for certain PP levels would be fun because no matter what the PP i'd always have a car ready to go and I wouldn't have to worry about tweaking it to meet the PP regulation. I began hand picking parts for certain cars to meet different regulations and what not but then it came to me, wouldn't it be easier to just drop all of the tuning parts into the car and then use the engine power limiter to lower it to the PP range that the room requires or does the car "work better" if you hand pick the parts to meet certain PP levels? :odd:

Thanks in advance GTP users!👍

I'd say it's better to use the power limiter, since you get a nice, flat power curve near the top of the rev range. Of course, if you overdo it, you might not be able to get back down to the right level.

Does anyone else have a view on this?

I'm not a tuner myself, but my view is that it depends. The 1st option -- which is install all parts and limit them -- can get you a flat power curve like what SlickTires posted, but you won't get full capability of all the tuning parts that raises HP. I'm not sure if the game takes account or it actually exists, but I think it restricts those parts to a certain level according to the power limit you set, so you'll only get some of the power generated, not to or close to its capabilities. And for the 2nd option, it's more preferable if you want to raise specifics, like acceleration or top speed, and want to keep the car close to stock as possible. If the game really takes account, more parts will mean a faster-wearing engine.

no it is more beneficial to hand pick the car and the parts to fit the needs of the track. lowering the power limit and raising it, you would have to go and tweak with different parts of suspension and your gear ratios to fit each track. rather than picking the parts to meet the pp requirement.

I do this for sure.

I have my M3 GTR tuned for 550 PP, and my CSL, S2000 and NSX-R tuned for 500PP. I have my 458Italia tuned for 600PP.

I can always make adjustments based on tracks and opponents, and I obviously have others cars I can mix in. The transmission always needs to be adjusted based on track also. By doing this though I'm always ready with a proper car for the situation.

I have cars tuned to different PP levels for 400, 450, 500, 550, 600 PP races

I don't know if the power limiter gives an advantage or not. My cars are competitive online. So, I'll just keep doing it this way.

I think my method lets me maximize my setup for the power, weight and downforce. Example is the LSD. Mine is just right for my PP level on each car, and if I was turning down the power, I'd have to remember to change the LSD each time. Changing the LSD might also affect how my toe settings are adjusted, etc, etc, etc.
