No-one beats me and my ZZII. At least, if I get it the tuning just right this time aswell.

I can't wait till gt4 comes out!! But dont expect me to get online on the release date of gt4, I'll have to get the hang of the new physics and the nurb. If I can master the nurb, I can master any track :D

I hope the "spectator mode" doesn't increase any issues with lag that online play may have.
I know that in SocomII, there is a spectator option, but that spectator being in the room creates extra lag and slows game play for those who are actually playing the game.
That being the case, the spectator usually get's voted out of the room before they can even watch the game.

I just hope that Polyphony takes this into consideration when developing thier spectator view. If not, it will be a useless feature.

haha!! you can se me how you should handle the GT-one if this mode was enabled!

And you can just look at me how I'm going to own you

Using broadband only for the game, I'd be rather disappointed if there's connection issue like that with spectators....

Uh, what sort of connection issue?

Broadband is generally recommended but there's no real way to force people to use it, and I bought the Network Adapter as a Valentine's Day gift to myself (I'm far more worthwhile than any girl I've yet meet), so I think I win the Sadness Sweepstakes.

I'm in for a GTP tournament, I just hope I'm not lagged to hell.

just hope that they won't instill a 10sec. penalty or sumthing when u touch an opponents car.. like in Prologue... a slight nudge with the car in front and u get penalised.... even when its the car in front that swerves into u, as long as he's slightly ahead, he gets away with it.... grrrr.....

????? What??

My Fiat Panda will strike fear into those racers that dare oppose

I could see this as a real aid for players. You could view races and possible next opponents, and see how other racers take different lines through corners.

I just hope it does make it into the final game.

Cheers

When I seen an older episode of "X-Play," I seen an archived review of PGR2. This "4 out of 5" game has an XBOX Live feature called "ghosting." The demo looked like it featured a Ford Focus and maybe a Lancia Delta. Looking at the demo car (in this case, the Delta-looking car), it racked up lots of kudos points and held its racing line pretty well. So maybe online play (while I don't think equals better games. The game ITSELF has to be good before taking it online) can also serve as a medium for better racing in GT4.

And for you newcomers to GTPlanet or inexperienced Gran Turismo racers, don't forget that the racing physics have changed for GT4. So what you could do in past GTs probably won't be as easy/hard as GT4 will most likely be.

So what you're suggesting is that people may be able to download ghost data from other people's best times to see how they did it?

Well iv finally signed up. anyway 2 points.

1 - yeah downoading other people's ghost cars could be implemented very easily. and be great for teaching the best lines for the best times.

2 - i doubt watching online races will be totally live like when your playing. a better option would be to have a few seconds of delay to the audience therefore allowing for buffering of the race. therefore meaning high pings are no longer a huge concern, it would basically make it 6 ghost cars driving at once. and ghost car files are very small so transferring is no problem.

Yiou can download ghosts in PGR2, it's a great feature for improving your skill and seing how the best laps were acheived.

How would buffering the broadcast ease lag problems? You still have to send the same amount of data.

but not all at once, if its unbuffered it needs to be sent as its happening (more ping dependant) but if its buffere it can be in chunks (more bandwith dependant) and as a low ping is a higher commodity than a high bandwth during games it makes sence!

it also alows for more advanced compression tequniques than if the data was needed instantly
