Just wondering if any of you guys take the time to preview the race before you enter it, qualify before starting it, and watch the replay after it. I normally don't bother with qualifying much, but occasionally I will preview the race and qualify for it if I have a hard time with it.

Does previewing, qualifying, and replaying make you become a bettter GT racer?

Another question... How do you make those videos or submitt any screenshots? How do you get it from your tv/ps2 to the computer?

Preview can help to give you a sense of the competition I guess. I use it to see if they're racing [R] cars or regular cars.

As for the video thing... yeah that's a problem. The best thing to do would be to buy a video card with video-in, and just plug the ps2 in that. But that's expensive. The other way is with a camcorder...

i normally watch the first 8 seconds of the replay...sometimes the whole thing, if it's a nice car.
but i never qualify or preview.

For me, i don't bother qualifying, cause that's jsut like doing the race twice and i don't have that much time for that, and i don't bother with the replay either, the only time I watch the replay is during free run in Arcade mode with a nice car.:)

You could use free run as a test to see if you definetally want to buy a specific vehicle, eh?!

yea its a good idea, how com i never thought of that??:banghead: i restarted my gt3 so many tiems cuz i didnt know which car to start off with, lol

When I was going through the game for 100%, I did use the Preview to check the competition.

I generally only watch the Replay if there was a really good dice for position, or if I had some nice oversteer slides.

I don't do preview or qualify, but i do sometimes watch the replay for some nice action :)

I dont preview... wastes valuable time
I dont qualify.... my technique will get me thru from last place if my car is competitive and the race long enuff...

I do like to watch replays on close races. (ie, 7 laps down out of 10 and i have only just caught the leader). Its like being at the races :D

i only preview to see who i am going up against and i only qualify if i want to see how good the cars are that i am going up against

other than that, i use overpowered cars and DOMINATE THE RACE!!!!

muahahahahahahahaha

although im going to restart and go through the game with its full integrity :)

You should check out RoadHazzard's thread then ;)

I never preview; I cut straight to qualifying. I don't really care how many 'race days' I use up. I do usually qualify, though, because I like to test my car setup and see how close it is to the competition; this gives me a chance to adjust the car's power up or down to be right in the hunt. Plus it gives me a few laps to warm up on the track.

If I'm using a stock car vs. similar cars ( like in the JGTC series), a lot of times I will run the warmup lap and most of the qualifying lap. If my 3rd quadrant time is a second or more faster than the pole car, I will exit the qualifying run and start from the back of the pack to keep it interesting.

Like vat_man and ving, I only watch the replay if there was interesting racing. I usually watch from the in-car view of the car following me, with all the indicators turned on. This does two things at the same time: lets me watch my own performance so I can see where I goofed and lost ground, and also lets me observe the AI driving technique first hand. Both of those can really help me analyze and improve my driving.

Qualify is stupid you by the end of the 2nd lap it doesn't matter where the **** you started. Preview I'm to good for preview lol jk i just don't do it. Replay's are cool but does anybody know how to stop them from automatically playing after each race?

Thats the only thing I hate about them...

I disagree heartily. I run races as closely as possible, and every second of advantage is well worth it, at least in the under-10-lap races (not the enduros).

For instance I ran the Amateur Type R races in a 280-320hp Integra R. I was faster than the NSX-Rs over all, but they had such a huge launch advantage over me (being MR not FF) that every carlength I started behind them was a big handicap to overcome during the race. It was definitely worth qualifying there.

I echo Duke's sentiment on qualifying. Personally I want as few obstructions between me and the track, and I hate starting behind other cars because you can never be sure of their off-the-line acceleration. It's irritating to no end when you get a good launch only to plow into the rear of the guy in front of you when he hardly even budged. Plus the last couple of cars in the field tend to block off the whole track when they get close in the corners, and I'll be darned if I'm gonna waste time fighting with backmarkers when I could be challenging for the lead early on.

I guess that's one advantage of starting my sim racing career on NASCAR games... it's taught me that where you start is important in determining where you finish.

Yes, qualifying doesn't matter if you are using a superior car, but when using a similar/lower performance car than the competitiors, you have to qualify :)

I never watch the preview or bother to qualify. I want to start last and have to pass the other cars, especially if I have a car which is slower or at least no quicker than the AI cars.

My post race ritual is to start another race.

Now that I saved up alot of credits, and bought a Toyota MR2 G-Limited (which will beat the Miatas anyday, anytime, anywhere), I dont preview because I know the only cars are sports cars, with MR drive train (this is when I am doing the MR Challenge). I did qualify for all three races in the MR Challenge though, since I was new to the tracks. I did watch the replay also, becuase its my first darn rear-wheel drive car! WHO WHIPPE DO! So there you have it.

So, did you do good in the races?
