With the update on the homepage saying shopto have their staff working through the weekend on GT5 only it makes it sound like GT5 is going to break sales records, but I remember seeing just 11 days ago the 4 top pre-orders on shopto.net where, in this order, Black ops for 360, black ops for PS3, GT5, Brotherhood.

That means that unless a crapload of people have preordered GT5 in the last 11 days then Black ops for 360 will have outsold GT5, and blackops for all formats would have outsodl GT5 MASSIVELY, so did shopto get their staff working the weekend 2 weeks ago to get that Blackops release sorted?

The pre-orders will have ROCKETED as soon as the final release date came out. The thing with GT games is that they continue to sell well even a year after release, whereas no one is interested in COD6 once COD7 is released within 1year.

You also have to factor that tonnes of copies will get sold bundled with PS3's which will count towards the total sales.

GT5 has been getting pre orders for years, black-ops less so.

Exactly, for the last 3 years + the pre-order tally on GT5 has been growing, Black ops was only available for pre-order on shopto.net for a matter of what (6 months, complete guess) and it managed to get more pre-orders logged for it on each format, meaning more than twice the amount of people got black ops from shopto 2 weeks ago tuesday than will get GT5 this week (unless as i said, thousands have clicked "preorder" since black ops came out?)

CoD is a good game, and I will get 15th Prestige, but after that, what do I do?

It's boring from then on but GT5 is so large the 1031 cars will have hours of experimentation.

Once the trailers on TV are released (if they haven't so already) GT5 will get a **** load of pre-orders.

Of course there's a chance that pre-order charts may only be based on the pre-orders made in a single week (as with sales).

I have pre ordered GT5 a year ago or more at GameStop. Then I paid in full once I hear that Special/Limited Edition will be coming out in USA.

So of course people like me who pre ordered the game months to a year ago wont be seen on TOP PRE ORDER LIST.

I wonder what the record for day 1 sales (including preorders) is? (atm)

Black ops: 4.5 million pre-orders & 7 million day 1 sales.

Last time I looked assasins creed had more pre-orders than gt5 but thats probably more to do with the lack of advertizing on t.v, GT5 will gain momentum once its out. The best thing for Sony is that GT5 is a console seller more than just a standalone title as well as holding it's own competing against multi console games

ShopTo staff have worked weekends on a bunch of big releases. Halo, GTA IV to name but two. I don't think they've had GT5 available for pre-order for three years either.

Shooters are much more popular than driving games.

As time will pass GT 5 will outsell 1 yeard editon of COD, or BFBC or the likes, but overall the FPS genre is more popular than driving games. Its nothing unusual that a game like COD will have more preorders compared to GT 5.
