Being one that likes to race cars as they are in stock form, I was kind of disappointed that the gift cars already come pre-loaded with a tune close to an appropriate Performance Index. I can see how this plays directly into making the races closer right off the bat but I also notice that I have an easier time winning each race.

I am torn on this topic because I feel like T10 is doing us all a favor by giving us a car that will be able to compete right out of the gate, without having to purchase any upgrades. Yet, once you get to level 4, upgrades are FREE. I know it seems nit-picky but I think I just prefer the stock car out of the box.

You can just remove the upgrades... So, it's just free stuff, in my opinion, which is always welcome. The only issue, I think, is that the upgrades they come with are usually pretty crappy and you're better of by rebuilding the cars anyways.

It's nice to just hop into a gift car and go race, though.

Nay Nay Nay.

I at least wish they'd ask you whether you want it upgraded or not, I'm sick of having to remove parts every time I recieve one.

Much agreed, Free is always good but I also agree that I wish we had the choice. Maybe give us a few more credits and a stock car to do what we wish. I mean, I'll be honest and didn't realize this until just the other day after about 10 levels. My first car, the Aygo, handled awful but I drove it anyways, assuming it was stock. It wasn't until I went to buy some cars that I saw the PI difference.

I assumed they would only pre-modify some of the first cars you get but they still have random upgrades the higher your level rises. Minor annoyance.

I love to get free cars, I don't like the idea of free parts after level 4, I like the idea of buying my car. Then only having enough money to buy a pack of gum and a porno, It gives you a goal!

I don't like it. You be able to experience the joy of driving the car stock without having to do anything. Giving the option for a free autoupgrade would've been a better choice rather than to just do it without notifying you.

I think this would of been the best thing to do, but I guess you can't go wrong with free!

I don't mean to attack anyone, but didn't it seem a bit, you know, strange that every car you are given is at the max PI of its class?

I mean, from a design perspective, it makes sense. They're giving you an incentive to run new cars, to branch out and drive whatever you get in your garage. And it's actually nice for World Tour, where having loads of different cars means that you get a more diverse experience.

I agree that there should've been a notification, though.

You can remove the modifications if it bothers you that much, I personally think it's nice to get a bit more than just a stock car for free! :)

Im an absolute Nay on this one.

In fact, immediately after I receive my gift car, I reset the tuning settings to stock. While I could peripherally understand T10's decision to upgrade and tune all the cars to make racing competitive, I can't understand why the player is strong armed into upgrading as well.

I mean, give a seasoned vet a M3 and give a newbie an Italia with all the assists thrown in, and unless they are racing an oval, the result is often not as straight forward as their assigned performance points would make you believe. Why couldn't the AI exhibit this type of behavior where the driver with the best car isn't necessarily the best driver..? And, having a garage full of cars all in the 98-100 range for each performance category is unjust to the programmers that worked on emulating each car in their stock settings, only to be adjusted way out of whack with moderate :) engine upgrades and weight reductions.

"Massive" upgrades? It's usually very, very basic stuff to get ~50 PI more out of the car, which is usually done by upgrading the car's wheel width, the tyre compound and some minor engine modification like valves, intake and flywheel. I haven't seen any adjustable parts on the cars either, so they really don't get their inherent character changed all that much.

Meh, doesnt matter to me, if I need the gift care to handle better with the same PI I change it myself. I dont feel its something to even worry that much about.

Doesn't bother me none, it gives me an advantage in attain Affinity points for that car's manufacture.

Not a huge deal to me either. As others have said, it is free parts, and one can always switch to its stock form in 5 seconds. Plus, the upgrades aren't optimal, so it won't hurt tuners either.

It takes like 5 seconds to remove the upgrades?
It's not that big of a deal, plus if you know the car then you can obviously tell it's been modded?

I like it for the reason they implemented it in the first place: optimised racing. Although there are still "hero cars" as such, you can still run a race competitively using a car which, on paper, would have little chance of competitiveness.

If I really don't like a tune of the car I've just won...I change it. Simple.

I like it: I can continue saving money by entering prize cars in races and know they're going to be competitive out of the box. Removing the upgrades takes a few seconds anyways. I do enjoy stock cars, so I will be fixing that up, but right now, the goal is to get through World Tour (or at least, to Level 50), before I really start optimizing my garage for personal use.
