I was doing some drifting on that long-ish corner on the backside of R246, and came to a conclusion about my drifting.
I'm more at ease drifting to the left, as opposed to the right.
I noticed that doing that corner as a left, I was more calm in general, and did less midcorner correction to keep my line.
Dont get me wrong, i could drift it both directions just fine, and hold the drift for the duration of corner both ways, it was just less effort for me as a left.
This just didnt make a lot of sense to me, because its a constant radius corner with no surface or elevation changes, i was approaching it on similar lines between 70-80mph in both directions, and was carrying approximately the same drift angle through both ways (just a bit smoother going left).
I think the reason might be because I do a lot more drifting on Apricot Hill, Midfield II, and Trial Mtn. than anywhere else, and they offer more long duration lefts than rights. Or because the view of the corner is less obstructed in this direction (no guages and lap timers in the way). I havent really noticed this about myself on shorter, tighter corners, just the long drawn out ones.
Anyways, i was wondering if anyone else felt this way about one direction or the other, or if I was all alone in this again.
...its probably just me (I think I'm already having visions of Swift's post, and it will inevitably say "more practice"
)
