when you paint premium colors on a standard car and vice-versa. will the color change in a not so good way?

i painted a standard car whit a bright green color (don't know if the color is premium) but it turns out dark green. :scared: a paint preview should be nice.

It should be fine. Sometimes premium paint can make some of the worst standard cars look better (seems to tone down jaggies) but it doesn't work the other way.

In future remember to use capital letters, just to keep the moderators on side 👍

Yes, the little box showing the paint color isnt accurate. Several times, i had to repaint cars, and buy cars again just to get that color i wanted.

I am sure there IS a preview. In GT-Auto, if you select a paint, you should go back to the screen where your car is and on th right side of it, there should be some sort of silhouette of a car spinning round where you can see how the colour looks like on your car. That prevented me from choosing a colour thats not exactly what the little box shows.

You can also paint the car and if you don't like it, exit out of GT5 before the game saves. It's a tedious process if you want to experiment with several paints without losing them, but some people care enough to take the time.

The little box is rarely accurate, IMHO.

The way they sort by hue in the list, is also sometimes way off.

The little wavy vaguely car shaped "swatch" in GT auto next to your waiting to be painted car, is usually a better indicator of actual colour. But even that sometimes can be deceiving depending on various things. Some colours just don't look right on cars with lots of contours & edges. Depending on the shape of a car & amount of contours & edges, the same paint colour might actually look lighter or brighter on one car compared to another.

I don't keep track of what paints are premium or standard, so I don't know. But I do know that some standard cars look suddenly much better when you paint them certain colours. And some premium cars can sure look crappy if the colour doesn't suit them. If this has something to do with a paint actually being premium or standard, sorry I just don't know if that's the issue or not.

@OP:
I painted a standard car (Veyron) silver chrome.
Colour looks just as awesome as it does on a premium car.
Also painted a Furai in FT-86 blue... looks pretty nice as well ;)
I think it is indeed the "preview" which is not so good...

I think you can paint the furai. I liked the colour of mine, so I left it, so I'm not 100% sure. But I think it does let you.

IMHO, you have to be careful with the silver chrome paint. I've seen pics in the photomode section of the forum, and some silver chrome painted cars look hideous IMO. Haha. Course, it could be the angle of the photos, depending on the lighting, and maybe I'm judging too harshly. I've never gotten silver chrome yet, so I haven't used it on any cars myself. I'm merely going by pictures I've seen of other people's cars. And it could have to do with individual taste, of course. After all some people like matte brown I guess. ;)

You can NOT paint the Furai :3

Hmm, I guess I never actually tried. I got it in a really nice red, so I guess I never bothered to see.

Oh, but I was surprised it let me paint that Suzuki Concept car -forget the full name.
Thing is, it's not a premium car, and I painted with an orange paint chip I THINK is a premium paint chip (from a premium car I bought). And while I think it looks a lot better in this orange, than the common sort of deep blue it came in... I don't think the premium-ness of the paint chip actually did anything. Though there's not a lot that gets painted on this particular car, so it may not be the best test.

Sorry, checked it but it was allready blue, I was wrong about the paint job...
Colour looks great though!
