Right so i got given this old computer, and it had an old terrible GPU in it, so i bought a new power supply and a new GPU which is the asus nvidia gtx 550ti, and the new power supply is a 500 watt.

I plug the card into the pci express slot, attach the power cables and everything, the computer turns on and all the fans on everything including the GPU fan, but i get no display on my tv. So i thought i might have a broken GPU, so i plugged the old GPU back in and it wouldnt work either! Still no display, what could this be? I tried putting the old PSU back in with the old GPU and I still couldnt get an image.
My motherboard doesnt have onboard graphics by the way.
What could this be???

Any help is appreciated.

You could try switching to another D-Sub/DVI cable if it's double-ended. Make sure it's properly attached to both connectors.

Does it have onboard graphics? If so plug the monitor in to that. It will work if the computer cannot detect a GPU.

Hi guys, thanks for the answers, i got it sorted, i think one of the ram sticks wasnt fully in and i made sure all connections were fully in and stuff and then it worked, don't know for sure what was wrong but it's fine now.
