Alright. Now. I know that they've said that your soundtrack may revert to the game's soundtrack if the file can't be played. And there was a list shown of all supported file types that could play as the menu music.

All of my tracks are MP3s!

Why do i sometimes still suffer the same problem? I get on, and it reverts back to the original music.

What's going on?

Is this something they just need to patch at this point?

Are there other causes? All my tracks are MP3s...

I have never had this issue I don't know what you're doing wrong

I know for a fact that the last PS3 firmware update contains a patch for media. I noticed there were a few files that my PS3 wouldn't play anymore, more specifically MKV files. It's all a part of "anti piracy", maybe this could have passed on to games too?

As far as I know when you enter a online lobby which has microphones enabled your music will change to default. After exiting the room the custom soundtrack will be changed to default also.
I had a problem consisting of custom soundtrack not even starting upon firing up the game at all.
I found a solution to the problem however. Just make some of the game generic music to play as default. And use it for 1-2 days (or restart the game a few times in order the game to save and overwrite any old temporary music data). Then put back your custom soundtrack.
Following this method so far I don't have any issues with custom music, except when playing online and then returning to game menu, of course.
I hope this makes sense and be helpful. 👍:dopey:

I only use my music during a race, but when I used to have my music for the menu, it would almost always play the game's music. Now when I go into a race with only the Race BGM playing my music, sometimes the first song that plays is the game's so I back out/in, then it's fine.

From time to time and I suppose always when I edit/add songs in the playlists, I have to go into the Music settings to make it so it plays the playlist I want and I have to change the option to play the songs randomly. I'm thinking it was worse at the very start of GT5's life, but I still get this problem.

I'm not sure if using songs that you got from iTunes or whatever other "honest" :D way would change any of this.

I use no mics in my online lobby (I only race there). I have a playlist set up for my music.

The custom music never starts automatically. I always have to click on the musical note icon in the GT life screen then back out to the GT life screen. Often (more often then not) it takes 3 or 4 times, to get my music to start. Occasionally it will start it the first time.

Then I go into the online lobby section and start my room.

I have no music during races so I can hear when to shift.

Occasionally after a race ends I will get the default music (not sure why), but if I enter the pits and then go on track the music stops and when I revert back to the pits my music will return.

I also do this to change songs when a song on my playlist plays, that I don’t want to hear.

You MIGHT have become a hero today. We needed controls for the BGM yesterday.
