Well, it appears that the game has gone back to normal. Maybe just a days rest did it.

It get worse after awhile though last night. I couldnt even get into my garage cars without the game "freezing".

my game was working fine and now it doesnt load, any ideas how to unscratch a cd?

not many ideas here, apart from some social engineering - as in, go to the shop and make them :) replace it for you.

just to add to the anti-slim fireball notion, i've had gt4 on basically since it's been out, with a small week break once while i was not home. it's sitting horizontal on top of my a/v receiver, and it has shown no problems yet. maybe i got lucky and got a good one.

The worst thing about the new slim PS2 (apart from it getting hot, which c'mon, can't be THAT good for it) is if your sitting it on top of something (a/v receiver in your case, or whatever) how do you not yank it off with an accidental tug of the controller cable? (no c0ck jokes please) There are so light and have no substance. Thats why I was more than happy to save money and get a second hand older one a few monts before Xmas.

If you own the original PS2 (The big one), it may not work. I don't think Playstation made this game compatible to the old PS2. U may have to buy a part for it to work properly. If you have the new PS2 (the slim one), then your disc is scratched or faulty. Go back to the store you got it from and change it. Hope you still got your receipt.

:dunce:

FYI - I got my PS2 on launch day and never had a single problem with any game whatsoever.

Except with The Getaway, but that was bacause it's utter ****e...

Put it in the freezer, temporary fix.
Im serious.

Just a note on positioning AV Amplifiers - they should always be on top of eveything else to help dissipate heat.

My ancient fat PS2 was on for 2 days solid doing Le Sarthe II enduro with no probs... I have it standing up BTW.

If you dont want to switch it off but get it to cool down, trying switching a hairdryer to it's "cold" setting and point at it the back? Or put a tub of ice behind it - the fan should draw the cold in

I have an original UK launch PS2, which has caused no problem at all with GT4.

I did clean the lens before I got GT4, but just to be sure. Never actualy had a single problem with any game on my PS2.

A couple of friends have the slim PS2 and again I've not heard any problems.

Unlike my original Playstation, that had to be turned upsidedown to work in the end, or the X-box and dodgy power leads (and that one is not a rumour).

X-box burnt my carpet

I had problems with my PS2 for a long time. It would gradually stop playing games and give me the vague message "Disc Read Error". I stopped playing it for about four months, finally got sick of not having GT3, and took it apart. I found out, an entire strip-connector piece (don't care what the technical name is) was not plugged in! It was a vital part that moved the laser by controlling the servo. I plugged it back in, cleaned the dirty lense with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, and my games play every time now. :)

My PS2 is very old. It came bundled with GT3 but no racing wheel unfortunately. :(

I'm going to bet it's not frozen. It's just loading very very very slowly.
That's what mine does anyway. I've only been playing GT4 for a week and it's getting worse quickly. At first it just took me 10 minutes of resetting to get into the game, now almost anything I do takes between 30 seconds and 8 minutes to load. :nervous:
My disk is not scratched at all, but my PS2 is very old.
(Strangely, GTA:SA runs fine, but the fan starts making noise after an hour or two)

Yeah I gotta reset the crap out of my PS2 to get into GT4...

The game is fine, no scratches whatsoever. The PS2 can play pretty much any other game... it's just GT4... even though it's not scratched.

My PS2 is a fossil. I was one of the first to get one... here in Japan. Fossil.

My dad has thrown it, basketballs have hit it, people have dropped it... and it still works ok... other than this GT4 loading crap.

Glad to know I'm not alone, I guess.

Yesterday it loaded up and played realitivly well for a while. Only after an hour or two did it start the five minute load times. If it does the same thing tonight I'll conclude that it works better cold. Might have to get a little bar fridge to keep my PS2 in...

Let's just say, iono. Maybe you got the one in one-thousand faulty discs out there my friend! If so send it back for a new one quickly before you start having to convince people you are under warranty!

i have the old black brick also, but i have noticed a slight problem. when the ps2 is loading a page and the little clock thingy appears on the bottom, twice it has been red instead of grey. the times it was red, it failed to load the next screen. fearing gt4 had crashed, i ejected the disc and re-insertered it. after about 5 - 10 seconds, it reloaded fine. both times happened after i had excited a championship and before i was awarded the prize car. myabe PD have programmed this into the game to warn when the black brick struggles to load a screen. if the game crashes whilst loading a screen, look for the red clock, and do what i ahve just explained.
