Problem with new update on PS4

Hi guys hope you are doing ok. I have a problem when downloading update on my PS4, it does not complete downloading and gives me external hard disk disconnected message and need repair. Sometimes during update download it gives me corrupted data message and HDD need repair.
I have no problem with external HDD with any other game or update download, it works like charm.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you installing the update for the game directly to the external HDD? How much free space is on the HDD? You'd need at least as much as the game install itself plus twice the update size (I don't recall the size on PS4, but on PS5 it's 130GB+) in order to apply an update.

Yes, the game is installed on the external HDD and there is enough free space on it (about 3TB).
Do i need this free space on the internal Hard Disk too?
