I'm finding it difficult to get wins while racing them. I like to keep my street cars as stock as possible and when I race online, I'm just not as competitive as I am with racing cars. I think the reason is that most people are hooking up their cars and I'm not. And I don't want to tune them ! Anyone having a tedious and frustrating time racing their production cars? I think I'm just going to have to lighten them up and make them fast.

I have a friend who also refuses to mod his cars, but when he races he slaps on racing tires. That could help.

9 out of 10 people playing online put everything they can on their street cars. I have to create a room with the title "stock car only" in order to enjoy racing unmodded street cars.

create a room with the title "stock car only"

Do that.

It shouldn't be surprising. PD only have HP and weight limits. In GT world, a car with race suspension, transmission, aero, blah, is the same as the bone stock car. People want to be competitive when racing, so they put these parts on. There's nothing wrong with it.

Sadly, it does make real stock road car racing hard to find, but you can make a room for it. I've done it and, by the look of it [can't always be completely sure] it has worked.

Rooms need to have more options. I would like to have one make races where everyone has the same set up, so it's up to the driver to make the difference.

You could try using the race restrictions to limit the bhp and weight and restrict the tyres as well. Unfortunately this doesn't restrict the transmission, suspension and drivetrain but it's the closest you can get to racing stock cars online, unless you happen to get a room full of very honest guys.

dont forget that you can force people to chose from the online garage. then set tire restrictions as well and you will have one make non tuned cars.

I think it would be cool if we could also restrict certain parts that are detunable like turbos, suspensions, drive train parts, exhaust parts, ECU, intake parts.

If I mod a street car I will normally only use parts that can be removed again so that I can revert it to stock again whenever I want. Admittedly with a Premium I have been known to get a second car from the dealer so that I can more extensively modify my original.

You can get some pretty decent changes if you need them and it is very easy to revert to stock.

I do put weight restrictions in the 1400-1500Kg range, and then you always have a few people in the room with a 1200Kg Scuderia that want the weight knocked off, and suddenly I'm at a handicap. It's as if everyone mods their cars, and I wonder why I'm the only one who enjoys racing cars like they are straight off the showroom floor.

I'd love to do a search in the online lobbies for those stock car rooms. I usually put "Street cars only" But I rarely see any. the word "Stock" would be better yes, but I don't even trust the guys I race with everyday.
The game could use a patch soon.

Yeah, I keep my cars stock as much as possible (except for tyres) and it is hard to win races with them.

It's also hard to set up 'versus' races, for example if you want a three way battle between stock ford gts, vipers and corvettes. There is no restriction interface for these kinds of things.

I have put up a room with equipment limited to sports hard and around 500 bhp. No weight limit as some of the 80's stuff could never be raced then. With room name indicating that stock street cars are to be used and myself usually practising with car that is a lot lower on bhp than the limit, i have gotten usually couple of people to join with relatively tame cars.

These races aren't very popular though and there seems to always be someone with somewhat tuned cars (i don't usually care if the car seems to be only lightly tuned).

I love racing with stock or very lightly tuned street cars on sports hard tires, but nobody really make rooms like those. Racing Soft seems to be the norm online.

I agree. It would be great to have more restriction options available to race just stock cars, restrict certain parts to be used etc. I would also like an option to force ABS = Off for online racing too.

I think a lot of the problem is that the race cars will handle very good, straight 'out of the box' and a lousy driver can drive it and not have to account for his low skills.

Road / un-modified cars require more skill to get around the track well.

The good news is. if you can find a bunch of guys to race un-modified cars, you'll find better races and racers

I run a channel for un modded street cars only. I usually have full damage, no aids and wreckers are kicked. I restrict tires to sport hards. I don't usually restrict the garage, it's more interesting to see the variety of cars people own and their strengths and weaknesses.

I have a very small group of clean racers who frequent this channel. This channel is for fun, standard track etiquette applys. Anyone intersted, send me a friend request.

Yeah but the online garage is SO LIMITED. I don't understand why it doesn't at least include every Premium in the game.

If you like racing untuned cars online with others, you just gotta try this!

Yes, if you like unmodified stock condition road cars... Your only options are pretty much shuffle races, or reputable organized races with attentive hosts & stewards & trusted members involved.
