Hello everyone and was wondering if anyone could lend a fellow forum member a hand.

I've been having problems setting up my router to get NAT type 2 for my PS3,which is what you need, but instead i get NAT type 3 everytime.I have searched for info and i have done everything i can think of to get it to work, but still no success.

I think the problem is my router which i believe isn't compatible or strong enough to get NAT type 2.The router i use is a NETGEAR Wireless-N 150/WNR1000.

I've done Port Forwarding and even done the DMZ thing and still nothing.

I'm kind of new to this so if anyone can help with this problem i would greatly appreciate it.

By Port Forwarding, I'm assuming you followed these steps?

And on the PS3, you specified a static IP instead of a dynamic, correct?

One last thing - if you have it as an option, make sure UPnP is turned on on your router.

At least I think those are some of the things I had to do. :)

I haven't seen that page before.I'll have to try it out.I didn't mess with the MTU as many places said to leave it at 1500.So i try the different setting as well.

I do have a static adress applied to my PS3.So that part is done.

I'm so tired i'll have to do this tomorrow.Hopefully this will work so i don't have to go out and get another router, which my budget restricts.

Thanks for the help and if anyone has anything else to add feel free to comment.

Well i tried this and it didn't work.

I also reset my router to it's default settings and i then went on to do everything step by step and it still has NAT type 3.

I just think that my router will not work and no matter what i do it will always be at NAT type 3.

Thanks again for your help.

Holy crap TP i just figured it out.

My Embarq router was the problem. It was in Router mode,so i set it to bridged mode and viola NAT Type 2 baby!!!.

I've been working on this thing for at least a week after i met some cool people online the other day,to get it working right.

I let out a big Ric Flair woooooooo, when it showed NAT type 2 lol.

Don't you hate that?

I dont' remember exactly what I changed on my router/modem to get NAT 2 but it was some little thing that I didn't think was the problem that all of a sudden made it work.

Congrats, Starfirebird! 👍

lol yeah i know man.

If you don't get the smallest thing right on some of the technology today it just doesn't work right or work at all 👎

Luckily i thought of my modem/router while having breakfast this morning.I'm glad i did now :dopey:

Thanks again for the help 👍

right this what i did acess the router on your pc and get the dhcp range and primary and secondary dns. on your ps3 in netwok settings set your ip address as something not in your routers dhcp range eg miine was 1 -200 so i set it as 192.168.1.220 then put router ip in default router. primary and secondary DNS put in the addres you found on router. leave mua off turn upnp off and then go back into your router and go to nat settings may be different on your router. you should then open ports for the specific game you are playing eg i was playing black ops so i opened ports 3074 along with others (to see which ports to open go to www.portforward.com) open these ports reboot your router and ps3 and your nat type should be open. =>
