Problems With The Main Menu?

Like I said, it's not just this that is annoying me.

First it was the whole standard cars thing, then the jaggies and crap shadows.

Then the unrealistic rain that looks like someone is spraying your windscreen with a hose when your behind a car.. then suddenly appear infront of you because you can't see anything.

Now this... all these things are adding up and it's beyond the joke that we're waited 6 years for this tripe.
 
The problem is that the servers are trying to connect, just sign out of PSN and the problem is solved.
 
I've been having that problem too, no cursor would appear or the game would keep loading forever when going through menus.. had to quit game several times, it froze once, and now I got YLOD!!!
I've had no problems with the Ps3 until GT5 and now the day it came out, the main reason I have a Ps3 and it gets the YLOD!!
Wth???
No more warranty either, screw this.
 
Same issue. Although its happening on majority of menus when navigating. Does the game really need to query online servers everything I move from offline menus like dealerships and my garage?

Yup same here. Also insane load times when going from A-spec mode back to my GTlife menu :(!!

Yeah I got a 60 second loading time just to go from race selection back to home screen. Getting very long or inconsistent loading times in other places.

More worryingly my ps3 froze up for the first time ever in the 2 and a half years that I've owned it when I tried to open the manual in the online lobby.

Patches incoming I think.
 
pheeew. Its not my PS3 :) But still sucks. Thx for the "sign out of PSN" tip. I'll try that tomorrow morning when my next "Gt5 all day"-session starts :))
Once the whole online thing works though I am really looking forward to drive with some of you guys :) Will be fun now that we have private lobbies.
 
Had the same problem too the very first time I booted the game and attempted to enter 'GT Life' ... waited 5 minutes, gave up and rebooted. Will leave the install running over night and hopefully get chance to play it tomorrow!
 
i simply can not beleive that we have waited so long, dedicated fans of this game, only to find out that the psn network can not cope with the demand. Either that or the game has serious floors.
It was the same with black ops, and still actually is. This really needs to be sorted. I can not beleive how annoyed i have got with my station tonight. it is just not acceptable that something of this 'power' can struggle to cope with the things it was designed to do in the first place.
I am sorry to have such a rant, but i can not stress how much this has wound me up. Sony really have some explaining to do hear i must say. It simply is not acceptable to say that the servers could not cope with the amount of people trying to play. What did they think would happen, just 10 people start to play around the world? OUTRAGEOUS. I could rant all night long, i could actually sit hear an rant all night long while i try to connect and play an online game, or even just a simple a spec game while connected to psn.
I have no doubt what so ever that i am not the only one feeling like this
and as for signing out and playing, well why should we??? Its an online compatible game. I am looking at the game box now and plain and simply it has it on the front cover about how many people can play in lobbies etc.

I left the game running for 97 minutes while i watched the apprentice and some other tripe tv, randomly hitting buttons periodically trying, to no avail, to get this working. I have been a fan of gt for ever, and have only ever bought Sony since the days of ps one. I have to say i am really starting to regret never considering a dirt box now. Fair enough you have to"pay to play" on line, but would we ever get this type of problem? i doubt.

I really am sorry to have such a rant on day one of GT5, i didnt sleep last night like an 8 year old at christmas wondering if santa has been yet. I never post on hear and then one of my first post is this insane rambling rant about the game that inspired me to buy a ps3. My head is going to explode shortly and if that happens all this anticipation will have been for nothing as i will never get to play this game, this game that i have been waiting for for what seems like for ever.
I really cant put in to words how let down i feel today.

I would like to say rant over, but it isnt!!!!!!! It wont be unytil i can be sure that i can sit down and connect to the psn network, and friends to play an online race or race of any sort of what should be; simply put, the best racing game ever seen

GUTTED and as you may be able to tell, very very frustrated.

Sorry guys! ( and sorry for any typos, i am mashing my keyboars with such anger i am not really paying attention to what keys my fat fingers are bashing!)

I hope you realise how childish and exagerated you were in that UBERRANT....It's day1 dude, what did you expect?...

If you don't like the game you got just bring it to GameStop. i'm sure there are people with somthing called *patience* that will buy the game, stay offline, play single player and enjoy it while they wait for updates to come...as Kaz mentioned to the media, so take a chill pill kido!

Hopefully the server issues get sorted because this problem is getting on my nerves. For the meantime just play offline and it's not an issue
 
Same here its trying to connect to the servers ....and stalling ... eventually you can continue .... you just have to wait .... (and Kaz already trained us in waiting .. right :sly:)
 
I stuck the game in for 5 mins this morning before work and noticed a new news post within the game which stated that the problems are due to massive server overload. They are suggesting that people play the game offline in the short term which really sucks tbh. At least it looks like they're investigating and trying to fix it and they've communicated with us through the game rather than leave everyone moaning about it. Sounds fair enough to me, every game has this problem at launch and as long as a fix comes out pretty quick then I can live with it.
 
Patience is avirtue, one that I do not have! Ok so perhaps my rant was a little OTT and exaggerated, but still come on this should not be an issue. Everyone knew years ago what a big hitter this game was going to be. For the servers not to be able to cope is very poor IMO.
 
in the next update I expect a button (O) to cancel connection to servers...

mine's gets stuck at the main menu and the cursor won't appear. i haven't had a race in it yet and i hope that when a new patch is made, it will fix these problems and i can actually play the game. hope everyone else is racing fine or maybe has had this problem and has a solution. until such times that i do get it fixed, i bid you farewell! LoL :D
