You won't have to pay to download that content again. There will be a log of you buying them on an MS server somewhere.
That is the best news I have heard in 2 days. :sly: I would have been very upset if I had to pay to DL all that again. I probably spent over $100 just in download material including arcade games, map packs, and track packs. Whew thats great news. I will be back in action tonight after work. I spent a couple hours last night transfering as much data as possible from the old HD to the new HD. Didnt realize how many games I actually played and saved in 4 months. I should be all set now. :)

Well that is good news and good luck with your new 360! I still need to call Xbox support again and figure out if I actually have an extended warranty on my 360 or not. I called a couple days ago asking about it and got no answer as to whether or not I do. I also probably need to ask about a rechargable battery that does not recharge or even work probably.

My mates 360 just gave up ghost a week or so before his 1yr warranty was due to expire. He got one of the europe first batch 360's I think.

The B button on my controller is dead. That means I can't chainsaw bad guys to bits in Gears of War! Bah humbug! I'm going to pop back into the shop I bought it in this weekend and have it replaced - I only bought the Xbox360 last week so I should get a replacement without any argument.

My brother got one last week, too. For some reason, it has a tendency to start Gears of War when you are browsing the menus.

A mate of mines XB360 fried it'self last night, with 6 days left on the warranty. Good job it wasn't next week eh. He just switched it on and there was a pop and he could smell burning inside the console. I tell you, the XB360 is the worst excuse for a finished product I've ever bought, some great games on it but the console is crap. Mine more often than not has to be turned on, then off, then on again for it to bring up the dashboard.

Im having some issues with my wireless controller. The buttons dont seem to be very touch sensitive. On games like pro evo 6 where you have to sometimes quickly tap the buttons the controller/console doesnt seem to register it.

Other than that my consoles been fine, and its only frozen on me once playing saints row. I hope it holds up because if it does break outside of warranty I sure as hell wont be paying for it to get fixed. I'll just switch over to PS3.

Did sony fix peoples PS2's for free, cause I remeber when GT4 first came out alot of people had issues with getting the game to load and sony was fixing or servicing or whatever they did to it for free. All the customer had to pay was shipping. I think microsoft should do something like that if troubles are widespread, along with making xbox live free seeing as sonys online gaming is free.

I am finally a proper 360 owner. I have the bloody 3 red lights!!! Was working fine till a day or 2 ago and now nothing. I've tried every piece of advice going, but nothing works. Have email'd MS to see what they say. Will ring 'em up if there crap.
What a time to go wrong, you just know they won't bother over christmas!

That really is bad... You would think they would have fixed the problems by now, wouldn't you...?

Just do like I tell everyone in the world. Go buy another 360 while yours is getting sent off for repair. As soon as your old one returns you can just bring back the new 360 for a full 100% refund. As long as its within 30 days. Thats exactly what I did and its what I tell everyone else to do. No reason you shouldnt be playing a 360. Trust me it works and you could be playing again tonight. :)

we're leaving the state tomorrow - just wondering how to bring our save-data with us without a memory card [ie: usb device]

Some of the stories on here are really troubling. Glad I haven't had too many problems. :scared:

Only thing that happened was the 360 chewed up my GoW disk (left a ring around it) so I took it back and the Gamestop idiot told me pretty much if I breath wrong it will scratch the disk.

Needless to say I don't touch it while on and I haven't had any issues so far since then. :knocks on wood:

I've had it for... a month?

I've had it for a year now and the worse thing it has done, is scratched my oblivion disc, and killed it, but that was my fault :dunce:

Havent had any red lights yet either, it just locks-up :touch wood:

I've had the same issue! Our 360 was frequently unable to read the disc, so I quickly done some research and found the perfectly round scratch on the inside of the disc. We emailed play.com, and we got a very similar response to yours.

Fortunately, the disc rarely plays up anymore, so we didn't pursue into getting a replacement.

my 360 has frozen a couple times now and sometimes it doesnt seem to recognise the controllers. I hate it when the bloody thing freezes as most of the time I will be playing a ranked match, and it freezing means I lose.

...I'm about nine months in now, and problems have been minimal.

1) I still get the occasional freeze, but that hasn't happened in a while. Saints Row always caused problems, and I have had issues with the pull-up menu freezing in PGR3 only twice. But all things considered, fewer than five freezes in nine months isn't all too bad now, is it?

2) I think the biggest problem is that I have been unable to get my computer and 360 to talk to one another. My computer will recognize that the 360 is on the network, and I have the router and modem set-up so that interaction can be freely exchanged between the two systems, however the 360 won't recognize the computer.

...And this is using both WMP11 and Zune software, so I'm not certain where the problem is...

But I can't complain too much now. Things still work well, and I'm looking forward to the next four years with the 360.

Yes i took everything out (my controllers are wireless) & i tried it without the hard drive.
My email to MS was useless standard rubbish. I'll just have to ring 'em.

When I got my xbox in november the staff said that I had a one year warranty so if anything goes wrong to just bring it back to the shop and they will replace it no question asked, dont they do that in america then?

Nope. We got the 90-day warranty. Not that I care, since Costco is better.

Since Sony uped the ante, MS followed suit, and all 360's are now covered for a year. Even if you bought it 11 months ago, and your original warranty is expired, you're still covered because MS extended it.

...And Nintendo. You can't beat getting an extra 3 months on your warranty just by registering the system.

An extra 3 months on top of what? I thought the Wii had a max warranty time period of 6 months?

Sony is covering their PS3 for a year.

My 360 went off last Friday. How long have people had to wait to get ther gaming glory back?? Am seriously bored without it. I've got Test Drive sitting on my shelf un-used!!

I got mine at walmart and they said the same thing, but sony covers it for a year

OT, not my 360(don't own one), but a friend of mines, for lack of a better word: melted

Well a problem on the same day I first used it isn't really a good sign.

It worked fine on my first 45 minute go on PGR3 before lunch. I load up tonight and the screen starts flickering, not the whole screen just parts of the picture. Almost like the texture is wrong and it seems like it's doing it once it's warmed up too!

1 hours play and I think it's fubar'd. Checked the Scart, that was fine, tried another TV and I got the same problem as before, it did it on MotoGp 2006 too.

Only brought the arse on monday and only got it Thursday.

Odd. I think I may have had a similar problem before with an older console, but after fiddling with the cables it went away. Parts of the screen, mainly the corners, would go all fuzzy a purple. It must suck if it doesn't go away, because it looks horrible...
