Problems...

Hey, Jordan.
I wanted to report a problem I've been having with the "Thread About Nothing" thread in the Rumble Strip.
I don't know why, and I don't know if its just me, but it seems like when I go in there there are frequently weird splotches of color that float around my screen, and the display gets messed up.
Maybe this is because there are SOOOOO many posts on it. Maybe its just my computer. Yet it doesnt seem to happen in any other threads!!!

Has any1 else experienced this?

Sorry Stealth. I have not had any such problems. Does it happen each time you visit GTP? I have never experianced this problem. Maybe others have?

Whoa, now this is strange... :odd: I'm not sure I know exactly what's going on, so let me ask you a few things:
  • Does this happen on one particular page in the thread, or one individual post?
  • Does it look like something on the actual page (inside of the browser window), or do the "splotches" appear everywhere on your monitor?
  • When you say that your "display gets messed up", do you mean your monitor is giving the trouble, or does it look like something inside of Internet Explorer and Windows?
  • Does it happen every time you visit the thread, and does it go away? If so, when does it stop affecting you?
It would also be great if you could take a screenshot of this when it happens, as this would really show whether or not it's a software or hardware problem. :)

Can you explain how to take a screenshot? It happens only in the Thread About Nothing, AFTER I post. It looks like the sort of symptons associated with a virus on MY machine, but it would happen at ALL websites if that were the case. It just sort of whites out the menu bar in Internet Explorer (Back, Fwd, Stop, etc.)

:(

Stealth Viper to take a screenshot just press print screen on your keyboard when it happens. the picture is then on your clipboard then just take it into paint or another program and save it to disk then attach it to a message

Whoa, now that is strange! I'm sorry, but this has me completely stumped. I don't know what could be doing that, especially if it's not affecting anyone else. What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

This is going to sound strange, but bare with me. I think it has something to do with your video card, and the way your computer is processing that page. I'm sure it would happen more often, and it probably does, but you just don't notice it.

A) Your video card might be flawed
B) You might need to update drivers or firmware for your video card
C) There is a chance your video card is overheating and processing data incorrectly (flawed I suppose ...)

Make sure everything is work correctly. If the card has a fan on it, make sure it's spinning when the computer is on. Make sure you have the most current drivers too.

I don't think this has anything to do with the website, we're all getting it just fine. I would think it's hardware before anything else.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Drivers or Video card......

Have you installed any new games lately? Sometimes you will have conflicting drivers installed that works for the game, but messes everything else up.

The other thing that you might try is re-installing Internet Explorer.

I was having problems displaying graphics on webpages with IE 6.0. After re-installing IE 5.0 everythings seems to be fine. It will be awile before I try 6.0 out again.
