Honestly think the lack of resolution is blown out of proportion with VR - its the last thing I'm thinking about when racing. Got the Rift during pre orders and used it for around a month, started switching between a single 4K screen and VR on and off for about 10 months. I couldn't take the long runs while doing 2+ hour league races at first - would get hot and have a medical condition that needs me to be able to grab/use things outside of the HMD.

Anyway, if you go out looking for it, yeah you'll notice it. It wears off quick and you become accustomed to it. Add in SS options within games and if your system can handle it, it greatly improves the picture.

Also, wouldn't bank on massive resolution improvements with Gen2 VR (IMO) - think we will see better cooling and improved tracking before we see '4K' VR or anything along those lines. CPU's and GPU's still need to advance before we get to the higher resolutions.

I have your exact GPU (Strix 1080 TI OC). When I get this thing up and going I might be hitting you up for tips on Settings.

First post over here as a long time lurker - great community and amazing seeing the massive amount of racing fans all in one place. Pretty humbling seeing a few of my VR videos shared over here. Glad most everyone is enjoying them, if not making them motion sick :yuck:

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and will add a nice little GT4 race I did last night:

I just had a chance to watch this video from start to finish. Anyone who hasn't seen it and is interested in racing the AI, you MUST watch this video. Some of the best pace, most natural looking AI I have ever seen. Literally almost impossible to differentiate their behaviour from human behaviour. Simply outstanding. If the rest of the AI is like this I just might take a poke at some offline racing:sly:

Wait a minute, aren't you a part of WMD this time around?

As an offline player, I wouldn't trade PC1 AI for anything. I've been saying, that I've had the best ever racing offline.
With the video above, it's also a testament to the handling. I could never have fun at Cadwell. For me, I couldn't get the flow of the circuit no matter what car i tried. This looks like I may finally be able to experience this track the right way.

Edit: TCR action

What I mean is, shouldn't you already know how the AI is? :)
I'm in the midst of the longest rig rebuild in sim racing history:lol:. Bought all new hardware last fall and took apart everything I already had and started from scratch. Hopefully have it all working by September. I'm not much of an AI guy to begin with but if they can get it to near human-like levels I'd probably give it a spin. I'd probably also give up after a race or two and head back online but that's another story:sly:. When the AI is good in this game it appears to be really good. It bodes well for offline fanatics and there are plenty of those.

Only issue I had with a.i. in pc1 is they don't respect blue flags. Several times during an endurance race I try to pass back makers as they move back onto the racing line clipping me and I spin out into a wall, especially on bathurst where it is tight, race over. Is this rectified in pc2 this time around?

Hey guys,

Here is my first video. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Let me know what you think about it.

Cheers!

Great video man! The Ginetta looks to be more competitive compared to pCARS 1. Would love to see more online race videos that's for sure. Great video again!

I wish there were more camera angles and not the same one lap after lap.

Was that against AI? The blue car towards the end seemed to be driving defensively.

Thanks mate!
If I remember correct, there are some alternative trackside cameras but I don't know if it's for all tracks (and it's still WIP). ;)

I really like the Ginetta, its handling suit my driving style very well but it lacks some top speed as you can see ^^.
I could have gain some with a proper setup I guess but overall it's great to have cars that behave differently. Obvioulsy the Cadillac is more powerfull but it is also much heavier (and you actually feel it). :D

It was a lobby full of humans (and one alien in the 488 though) :D

Thanks for the replay. Awesome work.

When you flashed the lights, did you turn them off/on or do we now have dedicated flash option?

Thanks ! :)

It was manual flashing :p

Wait.. that's all !?
Man, you NEED to show us the rest, loving the enlighten wheel =)

I really wish people would include Replay footage in their videos.

I think that wasn't the case because replays were still heavily work in progress and didn't look very appealing most of the time, yeah mainly because of that. But now the replay fidelity is very satisfying, so I would expect more and more replay footages in the future.

The video is from a WMD member. Hopefully we'll see more TCR videos before release.

I've just understood what you meant...
Actually the blue Cadillac overtook me in the last lap. What you see as defensive driving was in fact the cool down lap

Cheers!

Agreed. There was a live stream vid of a gt3 race at long Beach and it showed two different sets of angles that alternated between laps. But I haven't seen another vid showing this since.

Even that was just enough to not make it so repetative.

Donington looks so different to PC1, at turn 1 and the back straight. The G40 sounds different and the shifts seems too quick.

I really enjoyed this video. It seems like the Panoz is extremely slow compared to the rest of the cars. That is probably accurate to reality, but I thought SMS would go out of their way to balance every class. Is it on placeholder physics or too little restrictor?

i think final balancing isn't done yet. We have to see what it's like in the end. But overall the GT1 class is very very nice to drive.

The Junior is a sequential shifter I believe. The shifts should be quick.

That was a genuinely exciting race. It was all the more intense as it was onboard my favourite racing car of all time.

@IanBell @The_American Can I ask if there will be a change to how driver clothing is selected? The video quoted above has a Toyota driver with blue gloves. It feels and looks so wrong.

Would it possible to automatically assign a colour based on manufacturer corporate colours?

In other words the Toyota driver would get red or perhaps black and white. Another option being have it assigned based on the dominant colour in a selected livery.

I'm sure many think I am nitpicking but it is the little details which can help improve immersion yet further.

Thanks.
