This might be a controversial take but I'm gutted to hear this is going to end and it's another series that won't be continuing for the primary reason that there are so few driving experiences that work well on a controller especially in the more simulation end of things.
I'm not just talking about controller support but actually feeling good to drive with one.
I still play PCars 3 on and off regularly because of this and it's great car and track selection.

Man, this game. I thought it was good. But the marketing of it was absolutely awful. I think they were going to call it something totally different, but the publishers made them change it. If they just did what they were going to - make a more easily accessible arcadey-type racer as a spin off, I think it would have been successful. Or at least a fun diversion between mainline titles.

You'd think if they de-list it, they could at least put it on sale for really cheap

I will definitely agree with this, they should have marketed it better and made it clear the difference in focus. A name change like Project Cars Subtitle Here would have helped too but I wonder if part of the Bamco contract was for a "3".

I'd been looking for it to go on sale for ages on PC as already had it on PS but it never really did and not really on key sites either. The current best price is from ShopTo.

Ian Bell confirmed the original plan for Project CARS 3 was to be a spinoff, but that decision got overruled by investors:

Ian Bell on the fiasco that is Project Cars 3:
"Project CARS 3 is the one game that I didn't directly input the minutia. Every game leading up to that I was directly involved in, and would drive the car constantly, feedback constantly. But during the Project CARS 3 development, I stepped back and, once we were taken over by Codemasters, I was advised to stop being involved in the micro details completely. I'm not sure that was an overall positive. Additionally, we didn't want to call it Project CARS 3 at all. I sat around the table with twenty other people at Codemasters and openly stated that we wanted to call it Project CARS: Sideways, giving the community an indication that we're going off in a different direction, to have sort of semi-open-world areas.

The idea was that we'd go in a Forza Horizon direction as compared to Forza Motorsport. I was overruled, and I was overruled because I was told that the investors were insisting that we called the game Project CARS 3 because that's what would sell. That decision was completely against my remit, completely against my advice, and something that I didn't agree with. So that's not a game I'm proud of. And that's not a get-out, either. I did my best to try to at least change the name. I did my best to try to position it such that it would be more of Forza Horizon as opposed to a Forza Motorsport. You know, we sometimes must accept these decisions because the investors are paying insane amounts of money to make these things happen."

EA killing off the planned PC4 which is said to return to its roots and being made as the ultimate hardcore sim..

Project Cars: Shift might have been a better indication as to what the game was meant to be.

I'm currently discussing with my wallet whether to buy it at full price before it gets delisted. I had hoped for a sale price for 3+ years, but it never happened so I might have to bite the proverbial bullet.

I know the servers close in February 2026 - are the daily races/challenges still running as they seemed pretty good and I'd probably run those for a while to build up credits/XP etc if that is possible.

Honestly I wish we were living in the alternate universe where the EA takeover happened a tiny bit quicker, so it was them publishing Project CARS 3 instead of Bandai Namco.

Then since EA was in control, they could lend this unreleased game the Need for Speed branding and call it Shift 3.

Even if it was built off of PCARS' bones, with the Need for Speed brand and Shift attached to it, along with Jane Perry's narrations (who has done plenty of NFS titles in the past), it would have been much better for this project overall.

Self-Deleted my comment. I was unusually... grumpy about how PC3 played. My bad.

Project CARS 3 might be the closest thing to an alternative for Gran Turismo that PlayStation 4/5 players ever had, with simcade physics, traditional career mode and balanced mix of road and race content in selection of cars and tracks. Plus more varied weather conditions: driving classic F1 car (or something similarly ridiculous) around snowy Nordschleife is something everyone should experience :D

I like PC3 very much as a game (spent dozens of hours beating times in rivals mode) but I don't like it as a successor to Project CARS 2 at all.

Im looking forward to what pssr 2.0 does to it next year, its already in a decent legacy state. Im glad ive got it for the driving collection its essential for the track roster / having all cars immediately available too.

I'm honestly surprised this has even remained up for as long as it has, would've thought the EA Aquisition would've made this happen sooner, but I guess this is technically a Namco Bandai Product so manages to skirt by that. Sure did outlast that Fast & Furious game, which was...a thing.

Sad, Project Cars 2015 was at least a decade ahead of Forza Motorsport 6, 7 and Gran Turismo and was doing things TEN YEARS AGO that Forza and GT STILL AREN'T DOING!
multiple Driver Camera angles and cockpit views, Real Time weather in 2015 that YOU could control, Stunning Realism and 100% accurate tracks.
It's still mind boggling and almost witchcraft to watch Replay mode and see Storm clouds Rolling in IN REALTIME because the clouds again were Volumetric.
Slightly Mad studios will be missed and Project Cars deserves honorable mention alongside Forza Horizon, Motorsport, Gran Turismo and Project Gotham Racing.
It was THAT GOOD.

There were a lot of things this game did wrong, but also a lot that it did right
This is probably the most Marmite-y racing game I’ve ever seen, and that’s a strong statement from someone who played Gran Turismo 7 at launch

Hmm it's still listed for 90€ on steam (for the deluxe edition), usually there is a discount when publishers announce the end of sale. Maybe in a few days? 😐

One of the things that I like about PC3 is that it has full racing modifications for some cars which is something I wish they had in GT7. Also I can't figure out why this game is not on sale everywhere. I would think that the publisher would have a "going out of business" to move some units but I guess not in this case

Considering that Electronic Arts is the publisher here, I wouldn't expect discount 😒
It's Bandai Namco not EA. Still not expecting anything though.

Yeah, i know these things dont happen automatically and take time to arrange but you'd think they would want to make a profit out of the last month on sale.

I believe they would get a lot of sales at, say, 50%, whereas they're going to get very few I believe at full price. I'd really like to get the full edition with DLC but I am not paying £80 for it!

Is the DLC still available after de-list or is that totally it?

I've got the game - always loved it as a fun racer for the steam deck and when you can't be bothered to hook up the racing wheel - but I never bothered to get the DLC. Might change that if that's the case.

So if you are planning on buying the DLC do it soon. I bought the original PC right before it was delisted but I wasn't able to buy all of the DLC unfortunately so if you able and want it I would get it. TBH they have some cars in their DLC packs
