Well the default sound was already quite good for AC's version (actually i find most of their cars sound a lot like their real life counterparts), but i upgraded with the Fonsecker mod. This guy does a fantastic job just listen and try to keep your pants dry :p:

Sounds like he's pretty much just sampled the sounds for the on board footage from the video found on /drives youtube channel.

It sounds identical.

Personally I think it sounds maybe a bit too muffled, but overall it's good. How accurate it is, that's a different story. Not sure what equipment was used when they filmed the /DRIVE segment, but it does sound like they used an external mic. No way that is sound from a gopro.

Yeah i was thinking the same. Some folk (or shall we say purists), tend to raise their eyebrows when people get their samples straight from youtube videos, but i just don't believe the distortion will be that big it wouldn't make decent reference material so why not.

Must say though. The downshift sounds (bang sound) are on point in the AC version of the C7.R .... I just wish cars in PC made a more aggressive loud shifting "POW" sound lol. Hard to explain

This has made my day:

V8 Supercar 9.0 sound update is much better! Not perfect, but at least it sounds somewhat like the real thing now. Thanks for listening SMS!

It is an improvement but it sounds too manufactured a sound. I need to try it on my own tv to really appreciate it but would never think it is a 'real' V8SC recording.

I don't disagree, but at least they have captured the basic tone and pitch of the real thing, unlike the original which sounded more like a 4 cylinder than a V8.

The gear changes still sound rubbish though...

M3 is GTE as well. Oh well.

But on a positive note the GT3 roster is by far the best on any game ever - how many cars is it now, including the new Cadillac?!

I still think Forza 6 has the best GT3 lineup with
Bentley
Mclaren
Ferrari
Lamborghini
Corvette
Mercedes
Bmw
Dodge
Audi
Aston Martin (yes its too old in FM6 ;) )
and soon to be Porsche it still has the upper hand.
have to say that the feeling of GT Racing is better in PCars though, simply cause of the options, even though we all miss a proper option fur multiclass setting.

The only best way to experience both GT 6 and PCars is by using a good home cinema sound system and use DTS HD Master Audio with uncompressed sound.:D
The speakers that are in tv screens don't have the same range, and I really recommend you to just one time in your life to experience the game from a good surround sound home cinema system
Spend some money buying to Cervin Vega front loud speakers and a NAD surround receiver.
Even a 2.0 solution, or 5.1, or 7.1 will do. There are big big difference sound vise.:D:cheers:

Sound wise I find plugging in a good pair of headphones is the best option. I get loads of bass, and can turn up really loud without disturbing others. Plus its nice to actually hear some of the cars at idle.

The Ferrari's, Corvette, BMW's and Vipers are GTE cars, the Lamborghini is a Super Trofeo car (as with the Maserati), the Aston is a GT1 car and the Audi is in GTD spec (close enough). So really, for GT3 it's only the McLaren, Mercedes, Audi (sort of) and Bentley.

All the games have a decent GT car list at the moment, which is good to see.

To be honest, I think it still sounds quite rubbish. Different yes, but still rubbish.

The bottom video onboard it sounds much better, but in the comparison video the upshifts sound really weird, like the driver is still on the clutch when hitting the throttle after a shift. Even the shift lights light up briefly after each shift. It isn't doing it in the Bathurst video though, the sound is decent in that video.

Edit: It's still not perfect, but I'd be happy with the sound from that Bathurst vid. It's a hell of a lot better than the hilariously bad sound the car's currently got lol.

Unfortunately pCARS has terrible audio separation and a nice home theatre kit is never put through its paces with this game. Hopefully for pCARS2 they'll sort out the directional audio because it's nowhere near good enough at the mo.

I cant say its awful but atleast the noises feel alittle more real than most generic racing games. I will say that the cuts in the audio can be irritating. I just use my Sennheisers with an amp and crank it up lol

I wasn't referring to the actual audio quality as I enjoy it when it's cranked up, but it would be so much better when we're driving through a pack to have aggressive positional sounds coming from the other cars that are around us. It's just not there IMO.

I personally can tell where the other vehicles are for the most part but at the same time, certain sounds wash out others and it does become hard to pinpoint where these noises come from. The Z4 GT3 is a good example of this when one comes up behind you. The Ginetta GT3 does the same thing but normally when your inside (washes out other cars)

Yeah I've heard on several occasions one sample kill another or you get a strange layered effect with them. All I know is that when I wear my 7.1 headphones it's all a little muddy, but I enjoy the overall engine sounds nonetheless. I'm kinda glad I don't really know what the engines are supposed to sound like IRL so I have nothing to compare them to.

The real life C7.R and the Assetto Corsa sound are close to identical. AC did an excellent job.👍

I think I miss spoke. Perhaps the Assetto Corsa C7.R sound with the mod Mr. Dog added makes the game sound close to the real thing. So the pat on the back goes to the guy who made the sound modification. My bad!:p

I honestly wish those crackles could be noises that games would use as recordings. I feel like they are very important for allowing the cars to feel realistic. Those crackles literally make the noise in the C7.R, just like how Viper has the distinct BRRRRRRRRRRR to it.

For quite some time Polophony Digital was at the top of car sound reproduction. Their methods have been copied by many. When GT was literally the only game in town their sound was as good as it got.

Then a funny thing happened on the way to the audio mix studio. The sound engineer quit.
Not many other ways to explain it. By comparison just about every sim/simcade has massively better sound than GT. It's a shame because unlike many sims, PD does the surround modes properly.
With a good surround system you feel the cars go across the screen. It can be stunning.
But the exhaust notes and ambient background noise that serve to emerge you in sound are absent.

PCars even without proper discrete channel sound processing sounds better than the current GT.

And thats one of my many issues with GT. It feels like they made a bunch of basic engine noises and changed the pitch to feed them across 1200 cars. Oh well I guess. They couldnt do that many cars properly without taking 5-6 years anyway. They have such poor pacing. As far as PCARS, yea besides some of the distortion, the sound is really good. iRacing may be abit more spot on in some areas but they dont feel as lively as PCARS. Theres alot of life in the PCARS sounds. Assetto does a great job there too. I just wont play Assetto becauses theres basically 0 endurance aspect on that game for me

At first, like some of you, I did not like the stanceworks 2002. It is so loose that I could barely get it around a corner without doing a 360. Now, I still cannot get it around a corner (without sliding). I absolutely love it now! It's a lot of fun trying to learn the car and predict which corners are going to be tough for the car to keep grip, and trying to get just another few tenths of a second off. Great fun, great challenge.
