The rain looks great on the cars, but there is something wrong the spectators do not have umbrella's. :dopey: :sly:

I wonder if GT5 will have such graphics...
 
When they said they could have improved the graphics on PGR3 further but didn't have the time, they weren't joking!

This comes close to what could possibly become the "Best Looking Game on 360" as of yet. Gears was pretty, but this is just beautiful!

...Snow on the 'Ring is going to be killer, and totally weed-out the wimps online...

I thought it was sweet seeing the M5 barreling down the road there with the Elise...

Still on topic: The rain video was incredible too. When they stopped the Corvette and moved the camera around it, you could see the water beading on the surface of the car. Amazing!
 
The models are great, the textures are great, the reflections are spot on, the rain is...well, that's just good rain. But it still looks fake. It's all in the lighting. Rendering light (or, rather, rendering light's effects) is not easy, but it's one thing GT has gotten right since GT3. Good lighting can make or break the believability of a scene.

The best example of this is in the first video, just over halfway through, where it showcases the baby blue Corvette. In the side shot, the wheels are shown in full detail, as if there were half a dozen floodlights on it. In real life, there's just no way the entire wheel would be so evenly lit. This is an endemic problem with everything on the XBOX platform. At first I thought it was in their hardware, that it was simply unable to do good raytracing & radiosity. But since they've changed graphics chip providers, there must be something else within the XBOX OS or the SDK.

Props for the animated (and responsive) crowd, though. Hopefully that's not a cutscene.


Edit: Never mind. The blue plastic models from the "snow" video put the nail on the coffin. They need to totally re-do their lighting model. A "work in progress" it may be, but they've got a lot of work ahead of them.

The scenery outside the track (trees, etc...), and even the track itself look completely depth-less. Nothing but a bunch of cardboard trees, and flat, boxy terrain. I see nothing special about this game, besides it's ability to incorporate natural weather effects. I wonder if the motion of the wheels is going to be as unrealistic as the last title. Only 2 speeds were noticeable, full-spin or no-spin. I have yet to be impressed by this series. It's been an effortless failure up to this point.

How ever much it pains me to say it, GT5 better have graphics atleast as good as this, otherwise PD and Sony are going to find it very difficult to keep up. Maybe GT is better than Forza. Maybe GT is also better than PGR, but is GT5 going to be better than both Forza 2 and PGR4?? Tough call - shame we have to wait so long to find out...
 
yea i spose...what car is it? look's like a supra with a bodykit .... Could be the next midnight club boxart, with the kudo's sign and pgr4 lol.
 
They were talking about motor bikes on the official forum.
 
Meh... FM2 is now the standard IMO, if it can't live up to FM2's physics I'm not gonna be able to play it.

The wheels were screaming GT500 to me at first, but then I realized that it is lacking the GT500 sticker. Silly me...

The Bizarre website says nothing about the box art, so I'm a bit disappointed. But then again, was anyone really demanding bikes to begin with?

I can't help but think that it is a fancy photoshop of the whole thing. Look at every PGR box that has preceded that, and this one breaks the rules: Red Ferrari, usually a full body shot, PGR title near the top of the box.

It really doesn't seem like much more than Midnight Club DUB crossed with a Tourist Trophy photo.

My guess for what they'll stick on the box?

Still not much confirmed in the way of cities other than St. Petersburg, the Nurburgring, and what appears to be Tokyo again. The posting alluded to New York as well, which isn't much of a surprise either. However, they say that there will be 10 cities this time, which leads you to think of what?

My all-time favorite places have remained Washington D.C. and Chicago, due to their rather fun layouts, and furthermore (at least with Chicago) recognizable scenery.
 
Man, I hope those aren't all the tracks. Seems like it'd be mixing PGR2, PGR3, and some new ones.

Where's Monte Carlo, d*mmit? Supercar Street Challenge had some great tracks based on the roads outside the Monaco GP, so this should easily be able to. Besides, Monte Carlo is like the home to supercars....:indiff:
