I think if I could remap the pad buttons to my liking 99% of my problems/bitching would stop. I'm not bad when forced to use triggers but I'd just like, in principle, for games to allow me to play the way I'm most comfortable. It's 2025 (still, just).

Anyway, done quite a few race weekends now, Mazda and GT4s, and it's a very addictive game, really enjoying it now. AI not that bad - set at 90, so it's generally me chasing them down, may be different if I were to ramp it to 100, but for now I'm learning tracks and pad controls (did i mention that already?) Also, turned damage off to make it more GT-like for now, with it enabled the slightest door-to-door brush has my bonnet/hood popping up, things like that, way OTT imo.
I am probably 10 hrs or so in, and I'm really beginning to like it, looking forward to moving to faster classes (though even in GT7 I never race SFs or Gr1s unless forced to, so I'm not expecting to ever enjoy the LMDHs here either, but no worries, I love most of the other classes and cannot wait for the GT500s and Aussie V8s to arrive).
It's increasingly looking like a good buy for me. But I want that remapping sorted, please.

Have S4 mentioned anything about controller mapping? I find it extremely odd that you cannot edit them. Or does it allow you to edit but nothing changes?

More time w MX5 at Lime Rock. A few tweaks on FF settings both car and wheel and its really enjoyable. The patch has improved AI awareness somewhat, tires warm a bit quicker but don’t overheat quite so fast and it felt pretty compelling. Sure lots of other nits and not yet into career but I’m not regretting buying it

It's clearly intended to be possible, there's a screen for it. Problem is, some of the buttons I want to remap (specifically square and circle) are control buttons for that screen (save and exit, iirc) so if you try to map them you either save what's there already or exit!!! The devs have somehow done the pre-mapping ok though, because those buttons already have functions that aren't save or exit (think square changes camera view, circle is gear up). I think it's probably just oversight/bad coding. But pretty unforgivable in a 2025 game that's not cheap.

It's been quite a while since I've seen any of his videos but I'm disappointed at what appears to me, to be a little sleight of hand. Let's explain to new people why it's important to warm up tires before you go hard
I feel there's a bit of a boys club in the simracing influencer space, they all gush on a few games that had pretty terrible/average launches, and when covering other games they just come across as very arrogant, lot of engagement farming etc.

The looking down upon games/players always rubbed me the wrong way, especially all the snide comments about FM in videos well after launch, Everytime it came up in Jimmy's sim racing stewards vids he always has a snide remark about FM, it just makes me not care for the elitism in the space, same thing about Davecam, he rightly got **** on for being elitist about LMU having a radar and bonnet cam. The simracing space is such a small niche genre, the last thing it needs is the people with the biggest audiences gatekeeping with their stupid takes.

For people running ps5 who bought season1 as preorder,
Are you able to download the add ons?

PMR only offer to me a purchase button, if i press control goes to the store, who recognize it's alredy bought, and when I go back to the game still have the purchase button

I’m glad PMR have most of the GT4 cars. So weird ACC didn’t have any Mustang or Supra. The official cars for the European series are the ten manufacturers below:

PMR still have ten manufacturers with Alpine, Chevrolet and Nissan covering Ginetta, Lotus and McLaren. Good compromise with licensing.

GT4 America have nine manufacturers

GT4 Australia sits at eight

I like being able to adjust the roll bars from the OSD menu whilst driving, however these numbers and the values given in the actual car setup screen don't match up, and changing one does not affect the other, which is kinda annoying if I want to save setups based on the OSD changes.

Also how many times have I got to restart a race because of the (still) crazy, immovable AI cars causing carnage!?
And seeing one facing backwards on the starting grid sure is something...

But has been an enjoyable day driving nonetheless and I guess that's the big takeaway here.

Before the latest update (which is very good), regardless of the temperature, modern cars were awful to drive, especially the LMDH cars.
Most of the criticism was directed at these cars. (and optimisation, and IA, and visual rendering (excluding vehicles) below that of Project Cars 2, particularly in the rain

If the studio doesn't want to be destroyed, they should finish their game.

When you sell a game based on its so-called career mode (even though it's one of the worst in the Forza franchise)
When you sell a game based on its damage model (which is similar to those released on Xbox 360)
On its AI (which was a disaster but is better now)
Maybe they'll understand that a game needs to be properly finished before it's released. (Like GT7, for example)

I pre-ordered it at full price and my rear end is still sore.

I don't understand Ian's angle here. You would think he would just be a telemarketer to scam people instead of making video games that are not playable. I remember when I first saw Nascar 21 Ignition footage. I thought, 'this is project cars 3 all over again'. Curious to see sales here soon, see how many people he scammed again.

The cynic in me suggests its deliberate - create a bunch of hype and disagreement, release day comes and there's even more social media traffic and controversy.
I doubt they've noted a few issues, reproduced them, developed fixes, built a release, tested it, then had them certified by the network and scheduled for distribution in a week. Those fixes were well underway on release day surely. And as others have said, a release delayed by a week (or some serious midnight oil being burnt and release day met) would have avoided all that and there'd be much less fuss/discussion and maybe it would have got a 7 or 8 out of 10 in the wider gaming press and everyone would have shrugged their shoulders and carried on. But as it is there's some intrigue and (as we've seen here) people coming round to actually its not as bad as we thought - especially after patches.

As for stuff like the car turning left while in a straight line. if that was really a genuine mistake did they actually test it at all ? Thats pretty fundamental.

Either way, it clearly works for him, he's been doing the same thing for years.

Is helmet view the default in the cockpit? I tried moving my seat back and suddenly it looked like I was looking through a visor.

Also how do you get back to that menu so you can center your wheel?

Go to the control bindings menu, top left will have your input devices, select your wheel. At the bottom of the screen it says calibrate. Then just follow it like you did at the start.
