It's what I expect that is going on behind the scènes. jGTC was a longtime linked to GT. Other dev doing JGTC doesn't go down well if JGTC, PD and Sony are all Japanese. Sony paid and obtains exclusive deal for Gran Turismo. It's how I see it 🤷

PMR has no Super GT licensing, so they can't lose a license to exclusivity when they don't have it in the first place.

Licensing may well be a likely issue as to why it's been taken down, just not in the way you're claiming.

Super GT was finally something good from this game, and now it looks like fraud :(
Probably with good intentions, but licensing is hell of job today.

I tend to disagree since if I obtain an exclusive licence JGTC it includes everything around JGTC so PMR licensed cars but what if there are clauses or JGTC décides otherwise. A JGTC deal could mean no other game is allowed to use cars run/ran in this series. We all know that licensing is very complex these days and allthough I wish PMR keeps the cars in the game since it is a fantastic addition, they mostlikely will loose the rights to do so for whatever reason. I don't expect them to come back. Once more, I hope I am very wrong

Neither game holds a JGTC license, JGTC folded in 2004 and became Super GT in 2005.

I also cannot find any suggestions or evidence anywhere that suggests there is any exclusivity on licensing of Super GT cars for Gran Turismo, they've had the rights in the past, but again, not sure it was ever truly exclusive and there certainly isn't any information regarding this for Gran Turismo 7. Super Formula has a licensing deal, but again, not an exclusive one (iRacing also has official Super Formula).

As I said, it is likely licensing related, but I doubt it will be Gran Turismo related.

Sorry for the mess up between the names....I always used JGTC but yes Super GT right now. I have no prove either to back this up but only see what the Pikes Peak deal did to any other racing games that would love to bring that.

It’s most likely a Super GT licensing issue surrounding AutoBacs and PMR never having and agreement with them while they’ve been selling the content, there is no ARTA livery for the NSX but AutoBacs was on the number boards of the Nissans as far as I remember, They are also the title sponsor of Super GT and and since the only track to have issues with Takimiya/Okayama I’d go with this assumption more than another title getting the licensing rights to SuperGT.

Yeah, this is what I believe as well, it's been shown that there were Autobacs logos on certain cars and the latch had a livery adjustment for one of them, but it's likely the damage was done at that point.

It will be very interesting to see how this gets resolved.

It was for the track. They called Okayama whatever they did, Takimiya, and got called out on it. They had no license for it. The deal is now being arranged between them.
Just like what they did for Silverstone or Mid-Ohio.

So basically the cars are fine but they have to get the actual license for the track? Does that mean they'll have to change it to the actual name Okayama if they want to keep the license?

I'm not sure about PC users but on console if you bought the GT500 DLC pack you can still use the cars and track in single player and custom lobbies, just not in ranked races
I just tried on my Xbox, the cars and track are still there to use

That's the assumption. I really didn't read more deep into it but the content will come back and be available again at some time. At least that's what they said.
There isn't anything official, it's all speculation at the moment.

Well it was from people that supposedly work for Straight 4. 🤷‍♀️ 😄
Unless it's all just a big hoax, a ruse, nothing but a sham. A wolf in sheep's clothing. All smoke and mirrors, a house of cards. It was a put up job, a put up job I tell you.
Unfortunately the only place you get actual interaction with them is on discord and discord is just an insufferable cesspool. There isn't an official statement though.

Where have you seen that the issue was the track? Haven’t seen anyone from S4 being this precise on the Discord.

It was a screenshot from discord I believe. I really didn't pay it much mind. Makes sense though but sure, nothing official.
I mean saying things like it was Sony or PD is way more wild then a track not being licensed. Sony or PD don't own any of this stuff.
The reasoning was supposedly that the track is a full laser scanned version of Okayama and they didn't have any license for that and just put it in game under a different name. In Project Cars 2, at least for Sakitto, they redrew the layout enough to not be the original track to a T. Here they didn't do that.

Hmmm, weird, they’re quite secretive about the issue on the public Discord. Could be some private Discord leak then.

But wouldn't that have been an issue for the others tracks in the game that are like that like Northampton? Maybe the other licenses don't care but okayama does?

Given the cost of licensing Silverstone you would think they would take issue with it.

Plus, if it was just the track, wouldn't you just remove the track?

That's what im thinking cause 6 tracks (excluding okayama) are like that where the track is laser scanned 1:1 but are called something different so maybe okayama specifically has a issue with it. Maybe they'll just make straight 4 change the name so they can keep the track if that's what the issue is 🤔

Even Straight4s moderators have called him out on this. I would take any posts from Beezer with a massive bucket of salt.

You're saying that they called me out for something? I haven't made a single comment on their discord. Ever. lol
There's other forums, discords and messaging threads that exist outside of official ones. I can't find the screen anymore either and can't remember if it was was on twitter or what. Does it really matter though? The actual reason? I'm just saying what I read.
What if Buddha rematerialized and came down to earth in an alien spaceship and told all of us that PMR can't have any GT500 content. Would it really matter?

Because it’s not from any reputable source, yet you double downed on it.

That's their forum. That's not discord. And I have already said that the statement wasn't any official remark. What's so hard about this? What's the question? lol
Again, does it even matter?
All I said is the words I read. If you want to know my opinion, seeing as this practice is used on other tracks they have done this with , Silverstone, Mid-Ohio, they probably don't want that info to get out. It should have been private anyways. If this sets a precedence in these property owners callout out PMR for their business practices, then we could see problems with other tracks in game. But like I said, whether anyone believes this or not is irrelevant.

PD did this with Pikes Peak since if I remember well Dirt 2.0 had Pikes Peak fully integrated and then PD's deal blew everything up

You don't remember well. Dirt Rally 2.0 never had Pikes Peak or hill climb in general integrated at all. The Pikes Peak exclusivity for Gran Turismo was confirmed not long after the release of the first Dirt Rally game and prior to the release of Dirt 4 in 2017.

Official statement, cites a "sensitive concern".

Whether it’s true or not, it wouldn’t surprise me if it came to be a licensing issue. Major race tracks are licensed property to whomever runs the circuit; a video game choosing to implement a track without consulting/agreeing to a deal could definitely cause a dispute with those owners.

We may be looking at the difference between UK licensing laws, that seem to be okay with fake track names like Northampton (me, I'd have preferred Brackley!) skirting licensing, and the undoubtedly tighter Japanese regulations over the same issue...

S4 may have assumed that, if Northampton was kosher, then Okayama was too.
