Very nice edit mate, pity it's sad news it's bringing.

Just fyi.

http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/news/d57727.html

Could be for adding the Vette and/or for patching the glitch tickets. Just thought I'd give a heads up.

Sorry to hear about your train Outeke. Seems the Market Place isn't the thriving place as it once used to be.

Yeah, #75 was just too much already
But I doubt PD would block it...as long as it's freeware that is spread.

Pity this could not get going
Cheers for all your effort though

Hopefully next time somebody else does 👍

Hahaha I knew it
Well I'm not to sure how "official" it is but, 370z Tuned Car(GT Academy 2012) '08 if possible? If not it's fine mate :sly:👍

I'll send you the 370z in a day or two (busy with some sendingsssss)
Please send a f/r to Outje1067 👍

Well, BALLS! I told the wife I would have to stay home for this train. Don't think I will tell her the train won't leave the station so I can get some 'me' time in.

Thank you anyway Outeke!

Thats my "train" of thought too ;-)

Sorry to hear this isn't happening now, was looking forward to it. I'd just like to say thank you for all your efforts in trying to get this train up and running, very much appreciated!

I turned on the app to check on how the thread was going.

Then I saw the title. It hit me slowly but when it did, I was a little disappointed.

I wasn't disappointed in you, Outeke. You did a great job trying to pull off what possibly would have become a weekend to remember on GTPlanet. :) It's just sad that an attempt to bring some excitement to the Marketplace just wasn't meant to be. :(

Sorry that this didn't even come close to getting rolling.

For Outeke's mystery gift,
We shall all be pining.
My face is sad now,
But there's always a silver lining.

The marketplace isn't what it used to be,
There's so many new members.
Too many saying, "Me! Me! Me!"
And when it's time to give they don't remember.

Lol, my failed attempt at rhyming. And I'm not saying all new members are like this, but it happens.

P.S. Who's Tess? (too new to remember :p)

@ thread:
I really am positively surprised about all your appreciative posts. No nagging, no swearing. :)👍

Would've joined if I saw this earlier. Although 1 person more probably wouldn't change anything.

Now I'll never know what the item was. D:

🤬

Sorry, just goes to show who the good members of the marketplace are 👍

Who can answer the following question?

What is across the street from this (orange) bus....(screenshot required)

If this is anything like my area, then there is a couple of kids drinking, smoking and adding graffiti to somebody's front fence. :(
They could do with the good influence of PD and the GT series to straighten out their lives. They need to learn life's lessons. Like you have to earn credits to get anything. (Unless you get a gift, can do a license test or wait for free stuff.) You need to take care of your things. (Unless you want to put a Car in a lower PP race and need dirty oil to make the maximum.) Washing your car costs $50. (But it does get to float in the air.)

Agreed. 👍

My thoughts exactly. The people that whine and moan and swear are the people we didn't want in this thread to begin with.

...... Seems the Market Place isn't the thriving place as it once used to be.
It seems to me that the Marketplace is thriving just fine. I'm fairly new here, so I don't have the same "point of reference" some more veteran members may remember.

I do know that on a daily basis, I see a lot of helpful people that go out of their way to gift and trade with plenty of others.

I know that I have gifted plenty of stuff to many people that I don't even really know at all.

There is a certain element that do think that they are real slick, and blatantly mooch off of the kindness of others like leeches. I do my best to give these sponges a wide berth. Some of the nicer(than me) members even help these sponges out, regardless of how obvious their tactics are. Good for them, too.:)

All in all, I find the place a vibrant, helpful, and accomodating place to hang out. It is basically the only area of GTPlanet I frequent.......:)

Orange Dude -- sorry it didn't work out. It was a valiant effort. Thanks for trying. I agree that there isn't as much interest as you would think.

I am in the same frame of mind as Swerv -- I pretty much only hang out in Marketplace and Q&A

Will still be around -- The Planet is still the best place for information and help with GT5

I'm sorry, but are you implying something here?

Not toward You by any means. Name and Shame is not allowed here, but read all the "Needed Free......." every day by mostly the same group of 5-6 members. People here know who I'm talking about, and it isn't you.

Another "real tricky" move is: Wanted, will trade anything. When someone replies, the response is "Well, I don't have THAT. Then the person replying says, "well, I'll just give it to you free". OP then thinks they're real slick......

I'm going to keep it going with as much AK-RITE flowing as possible. I really am willing to help probably 75% of the people here. The other 25% either are trying to be "Scammy Davis Jr.", in my opinion, or have blatantly taken a run at either my good friends or myself.

The only people on here i'll donate to are the one i trust or have traded with before (They know who they are). It's very very rare if i donate to someone else, i always check their post count and Traders rep thread if i do.

I don't care if I send to a moocher. I just hope that my good example rubs off.

I remember when Werty started here. He had deals going in 30 different threads. Everywhere you went there he was. He was no moocher, just over committed. But there are so many new gimme gimme guys after Santa gave them GT5. At least Werty tried to fill his orders.

The market was fast and big. You could set up a months worth of trades in a day. The big guys helping the small. Everyone cared about reputations. But maybe we killed the market. Maybe by gifting all the time we have flooded the market and made GT5 too easy. Maybe we should all delete our game saves and start again. Who's in?

Oh, wait, I can't get every car back. Kaz gifts, special models, stuff that doesn't exist except for the ones sent by PD. I can't even delete and start again any more. :(

Alright, sorry I took it that way then. I have given stuff away before, even had a "12 Days of Christmas" thread where I gave away tickets to the first 12 posters. Now granted, I don't give stuff away as much as some of you, but thats because the Market Place is my secondary place of visitation these days. I primarily run time trials and take part in the WRS events so therefore don't really have time to trade like I used to.

I agree tho, when I do visit here, there are alot of threads created by people too lazy to actually play the game and earn a few things themselves. I guess thats why I quit coming here so much because I would end up getting myself in trouble responding to the people begging for stuff.

Like I said before, the Market Place just isn't like it used to be. In its heyday, it used to be a very, very busy place, now, not so much. Its still going, just not like it used to be. And I think that is evidenced my the failure of Outekes' train attempt. Had he done this about a year ago, I think he could have met his goals or even succeded them easily. Anyways, thats my views and feelings about the Market Place nowadays. Peace everyone.

I have many different Profiles from all the way back when the game first dropped and there were less limits than we have now. At that time, I was laid off, so I spent each late night ( about 2-1/2 hours daily) sending stuff to everyone in our League.
I still have all my accounts, so if I ever get bored, I could build on any of the many accounts if I so chose to. I've mostly collected so much stuff, because of being a Staff Member at our League, and also being a Event and Series Creator. It helps to have lots of different colors of many cars to distribute out when needed. That makes the racing much better. It also helps to have many cars to be able to match up for mixed-car Series. We've managed to keep a large group constantly interested, and the Racing fresh. That, IMO, is what it's really all about.

When talking to Kazunori and his interpreter at the GT Awards VIP Lounge in 2010, this statement was made by his interpreter about our group, the Tuners Pit Racing Association. (TPRA)

Direct Quote: "You guys are the most hardcore group we've ever heard of in our travels around the world. We ( PD) just build the game, You guys are the Evangelists".

I was very proud to hear those words.

I had the feeling a long time ago that in Marketplace are 2 different kinds of people...The old-fashion guys who made this place the biggest in the GT5 world and the new-fashion guys. The guys, as posted before, that want easy, free, quickly, have what they need...

My feeling as it seems, comes true...

My opinion:

There are many generations living on GTPlanet. Some have a short appearence, some stay just like forever. But I wouldn`t distinguish by generation or how long people stay. I would separate the good from the bad by their actions. Did/Do they stick to their word? Can I see their reliability?
You can leave the planet after 2 months with a perfect reputation by doing good trades.

To be honest: Mostly I can consider much from the trader`s age, if I have a clue or information about that. Don`t get me wrong. There are many young guys who are 100% top-notch. But over the time there are/were legions of mememe kids around who made me doing my best facepalm move over and over again.

Gifting to my "buddies" is no question. They ask, I give. (You know who you are.) - Not always aware of their needs but if I realise, I give.
To random people I gift according to mood and feeling and of course to my grade of laziness.

Sorry for leaving a long text to read...

This zegackly!!! 👍 Every single word is my credo here, as is written. And this is why blokes like Monat and all the others who know who they are will never go short of trading needs.

Additional explanation:
By "generation" I understand when did somebody subscribe to the forums - not when he/she was born.

There is the "founder" generation - the early ones. If I´m right GTPlanet was founded in 2001.
Next generation I would name "follower" including the GT3 period.
Then - after the GT series became a longlasting success with its sequels 4 and 5 Prologue - I would name them "early mainstream". (Not sure about GT5 prologue - maybe this is "full mainstream" already...)
With PS3 and full GT5 edition "my" generation flooded the forums. (GT5 was the reason why I bought PS3.) It`s the "full mainstream" generation.
And now after over 2 years of GT5 release with the new GT5 Academy edition in the market next - probably the last - generation appears: the "rearguards".

I was playing GT1 and 2 on PS1 - I skipped PS2 so I never played GT3 and GT4. Just saw GT5 prologue on my brothers PS3 some years ago and waited for the best moment to get my PS3. It was a GT5 bundle edition offer in late 2010. So being an enthusiastic GT1 and GT2 player I really get into the game with GT5 - made some online experiences and browsed the interwebz for informations and found GTplanet with its great community and "bammm" found myself in the great "gear rush" initiated by christara321. Hahaha, such a long time ago. Did it really happen, I mean grinding for and sending gears for hours and hours? OMG, silly things happened but it was fun and it was a feeling of helping and doing good things to the community... But I run off the topic... a bit... :indiff:

So again: there is no good or bad in the point in time you get into the game/forums. It`s how you act and how you perform.

What a pity :(

I read many of last posts, and with interest Monatsende analysis over GTPlanet generations. Last week I offered a gift to the first novice player posting in my thread. No one replied. Missing opportunities is a common weakness, and indeed missing your train was one. It's just a kind of natural selection. Many meteors and every generation gifts to the community a few members we can enjoy with :)

I would thank every mate who read OP. Too many guys simply login and post their marketplace request without reading everybody else thread. I'm here since 2005 (GT4), but only with GT5 my 'post count' increased a lot. GT5, like many modern games, pushes the player's community to a 'social' status. People trading, gifting, exchanging, playing together lead to people sharing their experiences. So, it's a pity that many consider this board just a forum, gt5 just a game, and threads just a place to make requests.

Finally, for people asking that, I'm not a web social fan. I subscribed to Facebook just for the GT5 car codes :dopey:
