I have a Vertical stand. I have one of the first gen PStwos i guess, i bought it when they had just come out cause my older PS2 took a crap. Mine has been getting hot enough that the sticker on the back is peeling on the edges. The only times mine has crashed was when i was using a Gameshark, and it wasnt during gameplay.

And im 99% positive that the new ones do NOT have fans.

Use 4 bottle caps on the corners to elevate it off the ground. Gets more air around the ps2 and its cheap !!!!!

i have put mine on three erasers. :)

could it be that the fans' speed is heat dependant? outside temperature today was 30°C for the first time this year and after 3 races i noticed that the pstwo made a sound i never heard before, like if the fan was spinning faster. i opened the dvd drive to make sure it wasn't the dvd.

hmm, just had a look into the manual...it says you should not use it at temperatures of more than 35°C. so i guess throughout mid summer i can only play at night.

lol, in the manual they already claim: touching the console can lead to burnings.

mine is the slim one and its on a wooden table. but ive never had problems with it freezing (except for the time i was furiously pushing X or something during the loading screen. it was just too much frustration from one of the missions i think)

now imagine the thing gets hot, the water and air within the bag expands and the whole thing blasts... 👍

I don't know how people have issues with theirs. Mine has never gotten hot.. just luke warm. Also.. Mines on 24/7.

ditto! i haven't turned my PS2 off since i started GT4...and it's been 3 months and counting!

bye bye PStwo :dunce:

never ever ever put anything wet near the ps2. my old ps2 has never overheated, its been cleaned out once prior to GT4 owning, and hoovered :p
