PS2 internet connection question

Is it possible to get an internet connection for the PS2?
And can you add on hard drive space??
Ya see i was wondering whether it was possible to download mods for PS2 games, for
1) Having internet connection to download things
2) A hard disc to store the memory of the downloads.

Any help please??
 
Yes, there is the Network Adapter and the HDD for PS2. You can plug in a broadband or dial up connection into the Network Adapter and the HDD is 40GB. Currently the HDD is only available in Japan.
 
Blast, i guess i will have to get a PC then.
I cannot believe that you cannot get the HDD here!
Though if you bought it from japan would it work on my European PS2?

And..
The thing is i would like to get mods for max payne, only not for the PC but for the PS2, that would be more convenient, would that work?
 
You don't need a PC to use the Network Adapter, you just plug your phone cord directly into the PS2. I think the HDD does work on any region PS2. Mods would work for PS2, but the game has to support mods and Max Payne doesn't support any.
 
Just because games right now don't support mods doesn't mean games in the future won't. Lets say Unreal Tournament 2003 was released for PS2. They could program the game to support mods that were made on the PC and you could download them to the PS2 HDD and when you played UT2k3, it would automatically recognize them and load them into game. Not too far fetched. :)

Yeah, but do you know how long that would take for somebody who has a dialup connection? I mean, they can't use burnt CD's from friends so they don't have to download the mods, so it'd take them FOREVER! Luckily, I have a decent Cable connection up to 2MB/s, so I can't complain too much, except that my dad won't forward ports so I can host stuff....

Oh, BTW, where CAN you actually BUY the ethernet adapter? I havn't seen it in any ads:odd:
