Hi,

I had the good fortune to be given a PS2 the other day, and the first thing I did (after getting GT3 and GT4:D) was to test and see if my GT2 copy would work. So, I popped it in, and it came up fine, loaded my save, saw and heard everything, and it worked fine right up until I actually entered the race screen. Upon hitting the final button to start the race the screen goes all black, yet I can hear all the noises and I know I can control the car because the motor responds to my pressing the buttons. I just can't see it...

So my question is, how can I get the video to show up when I'm racing, and why does it only not show up there in the first place?? Any help that could be offered would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.:)

It's liable to be something to do with your video connections. Also, GT2 really doesn't like being played on some LCD panels...

I have it hooked up with just the standard yellow-white-red set of cables. I suppose its possible that the video one isn't working perfectly. But I have it hooked up to a plasma and not an LCD - would that make a difference? Thanks for the advice though!

PS2 displays PSX games in the native resolution. Most HDTVs don't work in 240p, and that happens to be the native resolution of most PSX games. GT2 may display menus and the like at 480i, and switch to 240p for actual races.

All of this information is meaningless if you aren't connecting your PS2 to an HDTV through component or RGB cables, though.

OK that makes sense. So how should I connect it then? Or should I just hook it up to a standard television set?

Have you tried changing the video out option in the system configuration menu at the Playstation menu. RGB is better than Component, if that is the setting, 'cause RGB doesn't filter., or something.

Having bought a second-hand copy of GT2 and component cable last year, I'd have been mighty bummed out if my TV had refused to display it (37" 1080p Regza) although it sure does look fugly on that big a screen!
