I picked up the same 12gb system, got home and pulled out the old HD and installed a faster rpm 500gb HD (can't recall brand or exact specs-just make sure it's a laptop HD)...problem solved for $35 and about 6-minutes times.

Just go to youtube and search for "how to replace ps3 12gb HD"..something to that effect.

Good luck!

I was in the same boat mate, not enough memory to install updates,so as @DrDetroit suggested I todalled off to youtube to find a solution.
Now i'm not that tech savvy,so what with all the formatting etc i was left a bit bewildered, but after a bit more looking around I found that Sony have released a 250GB upgrade especially for the 12 GB PS3.
Its a bit more expensive than a generic hard drive(but way cheaper than a a new PS3/4),but comes pre-formatted and in its own cradle with just slots into the side of the console. Its simply then a case of turning on the console and following the on screen instructions, all your data will be transferred from the internal flash drive(12GB PS slim does not have a removable hard drive-at least mine didn't)any PS3 system updates will be applied and you're done-well until you download and install the GT6 updates...

You can get pre-owned/reconditioned/refurbished hard drives cheap off ebay.

There's three things you should do and a fourth you could do to solve your issue.

Firstly, put your threads in the right place. This isn't a question about GT6 insomuch as it's a question about games with a lot of data not functioning on PS3s with very little storage space, so it belongs in the Console & PC Gaming forum.

Secondly, title your threads properly. "why ???" doesn't help anyone work out what's in the thread, so it doesn't help you out because fewer people bother to click on it. In titling your thread properly you may have realised it belongs in a different forum.

Thirdly, and this is quite a big one, take time and care over your posts. This is your first post, immediately after agreeing to the following:
AUP
You will post all messages in English.
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.
Do you think that your post fits those conditions that you agreed to meet?

Now to the problem. Buy any 2.5" SATA disk drive, buy a PS3 drive caddy, put it in. There's instructions on how to do this in the PS3's own instruction manual. I did it in 15 minutes with a 500Gb Western Digital drive that cost me £40. The 12Gb PS3 superslim we bought only cost £99 in the first place...

Let me get this straight: Last Christmas, Tubthumper, and You're Losing My Favorite Game?

Please re-read the Acceptable Use Policy again (you agreed to it when you joined our site) which means attempts to use spelled-out words and grammar. Include thread titles that explain what and why you would like a question answered.

Thanks.

There is also the point that it was the outlet representative that said: "yes it will work" and not Sony or PD. In truth it is that person you should be annoyed with.

But if you want to spend a lot more money by buying a 360 and the games to go with it, than simply replacing the HDD as suggested...well, that's your call, but not really worth a rant about.

- Do away with issues like this by researching a product you wish to buy before purchase.
- The internet helps tremendously for research nowadays.
- Take tips provided in earlier posts and you'll be playing GT6 in no time.

1) Question not worthy enough to be here.
2) just buy another PS3. The End.
