hey guys i want to know what i should do. im stuck between a rock and a hard spot. i want to know if i should leave ps3 and my favorite game that ive HAD. or should i go and tade in my ps3 for an xbox 360 and get forza motorsport 4. thanks guys. p.s. if you reply please list at least 1 pro and 1 con of why you would choose that option. by the way i cant have both.

You'll regret it I think. GT5 is worlds better imho.

I know you said you cant have both...but I would just wait, save your money, and buy a $100 (or less) refurbished Xbox. If you plan on trading your ps3 into gamestop, they will only give you $90 (and thats with the "special" currently). That means to get an xbox, even a little 4g, will be another $110 plus the cost of a warranty and the game. So added up about $210 on the cheap side. Instead you could just pay $160 for a refurb and the game...but might sacrifice reliability slightly. Otherwise, stay with GT and PS3 IMO.

Well... here's one unvarnished view, take it for what it's worth.

First of all, buying a Forza game blind is a bad idea. Some really love them, some can't stand them. I like a lot of things about F4, but I have issues racing the way I want to. Others don't, but you'll never know unless you try it. WITH a wheel, it's the only way to race in my opinion.

I'm sure you're aware of how awesome GT5 is or isn't, so I'll focus on F4.

It has amazing car dynamics. The way suspension rocks on all four suspension points, and collisions are just amazing.

Something is different about the 3D perspective vs other racers from GT to PC sims that doesn't suit me, and causes issues with me taking turns well. I haven't tried cockpit view too much, as last time I had problems with it too.

The cars are also VERY loud, even stock, and unless you drive in bumper view or have a good surround system, the tires can get easily drowned out until they squeal as you're pushing them very hard, which again makes taking turns troublesome for me.

Graphics are great. Cars look awesome, tracks are very well designed. Online is very good, but of course you have to pay for it monthly or by year.

The selling point for me is the mod and tuning system, VERY deep, LOTS of bodykit options for making race cars. And the crowning achievement, a Livery Painter which is extremely powerful. You'll need access to the Storefronts (pay for Live Gold) to get hold of a lot of decals and flags and stuff because T10 cheaped out on included elements for the Livery Editor. But with just a little work you can have a fetching looking ride.

Forza in a nutshell. Still, it's GT5 for me all the way. With a DFGT wheel on a stand, it feels about as good as a PC sim, which is just awesome. One fanboy's opinion. Merry Christmas! :D

Forza is a great game, and for me it has always been fun to play as an alternative for a while but at the end of the day for me I always come back to GT5. The driving experience, especially with a wheel is just great.

In my opinion, Forza kicks the sh** out of GT5. New DLC every month, nice feedback from the developers and lets not forget the gameplay that IMO, is up to par with GT5. Let's not forget 500 of the cars you want and none you don't, with full interiors. Whenever I play GT5 now I can't stand it. It is such an inferior game to Forza. This is all my opinion though.

Let's not tell everyone how to think and want. ;)

I'm very happy to have a thousand cars in GT5 you don't want, because I'm not you and never will be. Obviously Forza is your thing, but I'm quite pleased that one game goes the supercar heavy route and one does not. That way, we can both have what we want.

Merry Christmas. ;) Now, for that Presidential debate...

Forza is pretty much done and it is bad time to get a 360. According to some rumor 720 will be released in 2013 so next Forza game will not be on 360. Also for online gameplay you have to pay on 360 and logitech wheels are not supported.

There is also a possibility of GT6 or GT6P on PS3.

Forza is no where near done. I don't mind paying for online because, the XBOX live is much much better then PSN. There are other wheels outside of Logitech.

Being someone who only owns a PS3 and has played Forza 4 on multiple occasions. If you aren't a diehard PS3 fan, then I say get Forza and an Xbox.

Gran Turismo 5 is a disappointment, and in pretty much every category except maybe physics Forza is hands down the better game. Although, Forza 4's physics are still damn good.

I would purchase an Xbox, but, realistically, buying a game console, plus Live subscription service for one game doesn't make sense for me, considering I've invested so much time and money in to my Playstation 3.

Bold speculation without any real evidence.

Microsoft isn't going to sink money into launching a new console if the Xbox360 keeps selling as well as it is. It's basically been number one in sales since the Wii lost it's footing. Come back this time next year and then maybe you'll be on to something.

Given there's an obviously substantial investment required, I'd find a way to try before you buy, if I were you.

Holy 🤬! Only the third reply, and it's definitely the most useful. Now watch it descend into GT5 vs. FM4, replete with crying and thread lock.

If you're a GT fan you'll like Forza, and vice versa. Both are great titles, both have pros and cons when compared to each other. One major plus in my book is consistency in FM4, something GT5 doesn't really have. I play both btw and wouldn't have it any other way. Have played GT since 1 and FM since 1.

Not true. I cant stand GT5 in its current state, but love Forza.

FM4 is what GT should have been + more. Online racing in FM4 in BTCC cars with BTCC liveries, and online racing with V8Supercars, with the correct or custom liveries = worth the price of admission alone. I still love my PS3, but am putting way more time into XBox.

So IMO, Forza4 with Fanatec wheel = pure win.

PS3 racing will leave your pockets richer.
XBox requires Live + even the cheapest of wheel costs way too much.

PS3 + GT5 + DFGT or G27

As much as I'd love to have the same level of customization in GT5, racing at a 24h time change track with weather, is simply unbeatable.
It really comes down to:
Do you want to sit around and move colored layers or drive?

Why do all gaming decisions come down to "all or nothing"? Is it in the contract somewhere? I know the lure of instant cash from GameStop is enticing to the instant gratification in someone, but how about raise some cash and then buy an XBox 360 outright? Ultimately, trading anything in is a losing (note the spelling) proposition. If GameStop weren't ripping you off, they wouldn't be doing it.

Ding ding! And since the full spectrum of answers have been covered, and we have plenty of threads discussing the two games (here's a general one in the FM section, and here's one about physics specifically in Q&A), and the topic is already spilling into enough open topics as is, I'm closing it.

I hope the answers have been helpful (my opinion - try before you buy, but if you can, definitely own both, as they both have their strengths :) )
