Pretty cool stuff. Hopefully it will match up to PC's graphics.

Probably not, but you know. It's worth looking forawrd to.

Well if your playing on a Hi res. tv, i dont see why the next generation of platform games can't be as good graphically as comp. games.

Well,if we can believe the specs released so far then some of the nex-gen consoles may outperform a PC.On the other hand,Almost all next-gen consoes are planned for a 2006-2007 release and by then Pentium and AMD will be hitting 6Ghz.So in the end the PC will always win no matter what.

I do have doubts about the PS3.The reason is the insane amount proccesing power the Cell has.As it currently stands, the PS3 will be able to run at 16 Teraflops. That would rank it on pos.11 on the most powerfull supercomputers on Earth.

Either the information is false or wrong, it just can't be that much.It just can not.

First the techart 997, now this!:drool:!! If thats the graphics for need for speed, just imagine the uberness of GT5!

Those graphics are gorgeous  Just look at that Porsche.

At this rate the PC will be overtaken in no time :D, probably not. PC is the almighty :guilty:

Yeah i do belive those are renders.I don't know if we'll get those kind of graphics on the next-gen consoles but it would definetly be awesome.

Now on another subject.
Can anyone name a better looking game than MGS3,Ace Combat 5 or GT4 that is on PC.

Cause i can't think of one.
So the PC may eventually be better hardware wise but graphics wise it will have a hard time competing with consoles.

I also found this,it's from Epic(creators of Unreal Tournament). They too have a next-gen developer kit(unknown wich one). They designed Malcolm with the next-gen hardware and it looks like this.

If that ain't impressive i don't know what is.

Nvidia going to power PS3 graphics.

TOKYO--Today Sony Computer Entertainment and Nvidia announced that they are co-developing a new graphics processor that will be used in Sony's next-generation console, generally referred to as the PlayStation 3. The custom graphics processor unit (GPU) will merge Nividia's next-generation GeForce technology with SCEI's system solutions. The two companies will also work together in making the development tools and middleware that will be used for PS3 development.

According to Nvidia president and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, the two companies' collaboration has been going on for some time. “Over the past two years Nvidia has worked closely with Sony Computer Entertainment on their next-generation computer entertainment system," he said. "In parallel, we have been designing our next-generation GeForce GPU. The combination of the revolutionary Cell processor and Nvidia’s graphics technologies will enable the creation of breathtaking imagery that will surprise and captivate consumers.”

The Sony/Nvidia deal is a broad agreement which will see the GPU being used in other digital consumer electronics products from Sony, with Nvidia collecting royalties. It is also a coup for the California-based company, whose main rival in the graphics-processor market, ATI, is working with Microsoft on the GPU for its next-generation console. Executives at Nvidia must also be feeling a more personal form of satisfaction, since the company previously had an agreement with Microsoft to make the GPUs that run in current Xboxes. According to some reports, the two firms ended said agreement on poor terms after a dispute over royalty payments.

Also of some note is that the joint statement refers to the PS3 as a "next-generation computer entertainment system" rather than a next-generation video game console, so the machine will almost certainly do more than play games, just as the PS2 can run DVDs and CDs and the PSP can play movies and MP3 audio.

Sony and Nvidia's custom GPU will be manufactured at Sony's Nagasaki factory and at Oita TS Semiconductor (OTTS), Toshiba and Sony’s joint fabrication facility.

Nice looking renders.....

Good Point 👍

Whenever "Next Gen" examples are released there never in game clips, which is what counts. I'm not really bothered about pre rendered scenes at this stage.

i reckon it will outperform most pcs at the time of release but as one week passes thell probably update them to be better.

Ehm. I think the PS2 still often outperforms the PC, although the PC has better specs. Simple matter of price vs value. ;) Apart from that, at the time of release the PS2 was well ahead of PCs and it took a while for them to catch up. It took even longer before they caught up graphically, and they never really seem to catch up in terms of programming (too many different types of hardware in 'em).

Interesting though that Nvidia is cooperating. Anyone remember that they made the special nForce/GeForce3X chipset that powers the Xbox?

While the arrival of PS3 is still far off into the mists of 2006, the images we're getting in our heads of how delicious the visuals are going to look are getting better and better.

After nVidia confirmed the long-held assumption that they were working with Sony on the PS3's graphics (get the lowdown here), further details about just how powerful the chip will be have emerged.

Speaking at a Silicon Valley press conference, nVidia president Jen-Hsun Huang confirmed that the company has already been working on the chip for an extended time and suggested that it would be in the region of 50 times more powerful than the PS2's graphics chip.

This was backed up by nVidia's executive vice president of marketing Dan Vivoli in comments made to the San Jose Mercury. ``This chip is going to be far more powerful than anything we've done before," he said, before reinforcing that work has been in progress for around 18 months.

nVidia have years of experience producing advanced graphics chips for PC gaming. While the PS3 chip will incorporate many elements of nVidia's next-generation PC graphics technology, it is being designed as a standalone unit and is not based on existing PC architecture.

nVidia's previously developed the GPU (graphical processing unit) for Microsoft's Xbox. Despite rivals ATI securing the contract to develop the GPUs for Xbox 2 and Nintendo's next-gen console (catch up here) the PS3 contract could be hugely lucrative for nVidia as their technology will also be used in Sony's consumer electronics devices like DVD players and digital TVs.

More jargon-loaded graphics news for all the next-gen consoles as it appears.

Lol veilsidebr,

U expected real-life images? Why would you do that?.The most powerfull supercomputers on Earth can't generate real-life images, why should a console?

I'm pretty sure that GT5-6 will be really close to real life. For the rest of the games,no.It's still to soon for that to be possible.
