PS3 backwards compatability?

Sony made the PS3 fully backwards compatible, im glad and very happy except for one thing thats very crucial where MSFT messed up and Sony might as well. Game saves and data. From what ive seen and read. there is no PS1/2 memory card port on the PS3 console. this worries me because i have 3 memory cards full of saves and other game data that i am going to just loose? Anyone feel the same way? I love the PS3 and still plan to buy one but this is really worrying me.

I'm sure some company has plans to make a card reader, if it's going to be needed. I wouldn't worry your life over it. Just wait and see what happens.

And, if it never happens, big deal. Just play the games all over again. I just dusted off GTAIII for some laughs and erased my saved game long ago. It was fun to play it again.

If I may ask, how did Microsoft mess up there? They offer backwards compatability, but only on select titles, and you have to have an internet connection to download the patches. I mean seriously, how many games from XBOX besides Halo and Halo 2 (and maybe Forza), are you still going to use once you buy the 360? The same can be said of the PS3... The only PSOne game I still use on my PS2 is Gran Turismo 2, and occasionally Twisted Metal 2, but thats about it...

Speculation says there will be some sort of USB attachment that will read your old game-saves and copy them over to the hard drive. The emulator is programmed to simulate the memory cards on the hard drive, so any new games you start will be saved there.

I'm sure they've thought of this, it's just a matter of when they're going to tell us what they're doing about it.

Is this a legit question or just your opinion? I still buy PS1 games when i can and play them. Many ps1 games nver had sequels on PS2. I will play ps2 games still after i buy my PS3. And I WILL be playing some ps one games on my PSP. Some people do care about this. As far as memory cards i dont mind starting over if i can play ps2 games in 720p. I cant wait to see the available games.

Microsoft messed up by making no way to get your Xbox Game Saves onto your 360, that and the fact that their Xbox Emulator is really shady. Thats 2 of the 3 reasons i did not buy a Xbox 360.

There are a few PS2 games which haven't been reduced to fond memories by sequels, such as Devil May Cry. In my opinion, the first one is still the best one, with an awesome hero (Dante in DMC3 is a tard), fabulous story, incredible monsters to obliterate, and utterly fantastic music that somehow blends rock, techno and classical!

I really did think under that front flap was the ds2 and memory ports aswell as the new flash card reader..... has anyone ever seen under that flap!

All you have to do is buy a $10 device that let's you transfer memory card files from your PS2 to your PC. Then you can later transfer them to your HDD via Memory Stick or Network connection to your PS3.

Yes, they released a picture of it after E3 last year, but it's very hard to find. All that's under there are the new memory-stick slots, there are no controller ports or PS1/2 memory card slots there.

Unless they've changed it in the meantime, or intend to before it launches. Even pictures of the "Core" unit has that flap, so it makes you wonder what's under there if it doesn't have any memory stick capability.

Jedi is right, I remeber that pic and there was no slots for pad's and memory cards from the PS or PS2. You'll probably need a USB adapter to connect thoes to it.

I was going to say! because surely you can use your old controllers..... gosh I wish I had seen that pic because I have never seen under that flap!

No, you can't use your old controllers.

I am pretty usre you can, you may just have to usb adapt them.

The front flap is the bit beside the disk tray area..... the little triangular bit with dots to lift up.
